A selection of clips from my archives of class 58s trundling around South Derbyshire and the East midlands, moving coal from pit to power station.
Not much in the way of thrash I'm afraid, just simply a record of the day to day work that these locos were built for as they go about their business.
Locations seen are now mainly just a memory, such as Bilsthorpe Colliery, Oxcroft D.P., Thoresby Colliery, Hall Lane Jct and Bentinck Colliery. Other locations include the High Marnham area, Cottam P.S. and branch.
I hope this brings back some memories of these unsung locos around the time of early privatisation/sectorisation.
Filmed between 1996-1997.
