What's cool about the size, is that the Class 66 come up as high as the nose of an SD40-2. So you can imagine how much bigger the North American locos are. But, I used to live in the Uk and understand the reason why with the height. And what even more cool, is that they have the same configuration and engine HP as the Sd40-2's over here in Canada... But the SD40-2 is slowly going away...

Sorry guy, the facility was called GMC Diesel in London Ontario, I remember watching them coming out of the factory... La Grange is down in the USA someplace, and they now run it all. GM Diesel in London Ontario, shutdown. And now I believe if they still do the Ugly-dog Class 77 from down there...

Arrow206 Project206 Class 77s are the exact same locomotives but as they can be used in Europe some get an air conditioning unit lobbed onto the roof on each cab. The model code is JT42CWR for both locos.

To my knowledge: Originally, the company was: Electro Motive Division of General Motors Corporation = EMD. The main plant was in a suburb of Chicago: LaGrange (postbox) / McCook. The company also had a plant in London, Ontario: General Motors Diesel = GMD. Both plants are gone now. General Motors spun off EMD (Like they spun off much more in recent years ......) to an investment company. Now, EMD stands for: Electro Motive Diesel. It is part of Caterpillar / Progress Rail. Plant is in Muncie, Indiana.

Half and hour brake block change!. Have done the blocks in 20 minutes in the past!. But that is not encoding the Brake test after changing!.
@DOCTORDROTT
@DOCTORDROTT 2 жыл бұрын
That's why I said half and hour lol , and I did not isolate brakes like some people do. I drop all the air and this is good practice . moisture drain and safety. We changed blocks in yards not a depot !

@@ricardobarth2716 Legend has it that when the first Class 40 was introduced in 1958, one of them sounded its horn to warn a group of track workers who believed it to be a vessel on a nearby canal so they ignored it and were struck and killed by the locomotive. From that day on is the reason why the UK use 2-tone horns!
