Sir, I'm 26 years old and I had my first MTB, a Miyata Ridge Runner, at age 4. It was a big bike for a little kid like me, but I rode it for years until I left my parents' house, and it sat in their garage for ages. You actually inspired me to give my old friend a new lease of life, so I fully upgraded it to a mullet setup (26 wide back and 29 front). Dunno, maybe it's just me, but it's the best trail bike ever. It can keep up with modern MTBs no problem. Thanks a lot for making a channel like this.

I love the bike and I enjoyed the video, and I'm certainly not complaining but I'm just wondering if you'll ever go back to the old format? I miss hearing you talk about the bike a little bit and the more in-depth build videos. Thanks!

Another good video on another nice restoration. Thanks for sharing. I know that some people were giving you grief over the bikes that you were painting, but I have to admit that to me, that was what set you apart from these other channels in the beginning. I do miss those painting videos, but I can also imagine that they took a good deal of time!

These restorations of 90's era mtb's just proves they're still good. I am thoroughly loving my '98 Barracuda XC URT 26er built up as a softtail gravel bike. It rides so well, I find myself neglecting my road and mtn bike. I plan on putting on racks front and rear so I can ride the Katy Trail in Missouri next year.

Thanks and noted. I planned to do a voiceover on this one. When I finished the edit, adding in the classical Debussy music, I started watching and found myself a bit mesmerized with the combo of the classical music and just admiring the beauty of the bike and parts and loved it that way so decided to keep it clean and clear noting that that is the way this build felt for me, clean clear and classical. Thanks for your comments my friend.

That is a beautiful Scott love how you are keeping the 90’s mountain bikes alive. To me the new bikes have no soul like an old steel or aluminum frames do. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.

I learned it here and since then, no damaged grips. You wont cut them with the end of your bars.

Thanks. The coins (US or Canadian nickels) are the perfect size to cap the handlebar ends inside soft single compound grips like the original Oury grips.

I've got a question for you will tapered forks work on a 99schwinn moab
@oldshovel7 ай бұрын
Likely not. At a minimum you will need a head tube with a minimum 44mm diameter which would accommodate an external headset bearing cup for the 1.5 inch bottom side of the steer tube on a tapered fork. There are some bikes that were made with internal headsets, using a 44mm head tube diameter around that time for 1 1/8” forks but the schwinn Moab was not one of them, it ran a 34mm head tube for external headset cups for a straight 1 1/8 steer tube fork.
