This Beef Ragu is a classic and a perfected recipe anyone can easily recreate at home. I’ve made this multiple times. My Italian chef friend from Rome made this one day for a casual dinner and he gladly shared this claasic dish. This recipe is exactly how it was and it just keeps getting better each time I make it.
Cut down this ragu recipe to half if you’re going to make just enough for pasta for 2 people.
500g ground beef (makes 5 servings)
Olive Oil 4 tablespoon
1 medium/large carrot
1.5 celery stalk
1 medium onion
1 glass red wine
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 can chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup tomato purée
1/2 cup milk
Salt to taste
2 teaspoon black pepper (or adjust)
Water accordingly
Adjust the final 2 hour cooking time to 2.5 hours for an even better ragu.
Pasta 200g for 2 pax
This makes enough Ragu for 5 pasta servings. I used only less than half to make pasta for 2 and kept balance for next day to make a delicious beef ragu open sandwich for 3 hungry adults .
