Following the NorCal Nick concept, I show how to do an inner fender mod on a classic body style Silverado to clear wider tires. I did this as when I was looking for a video to learn how to do it myself, I couldn't find one on a classic body style with any real details on how to do the job. Hope this helps someone!

You showed it way better than everyone else. Your cuts look cleaner too. Those custom offset videos were shit compared to this. Good shit about to do mine.

only other question (because i'm about to actually do this) is were you able to reuse that bottom tab hole for the liner when putting back together or did you have to use a self tapping screw to pull the liner back out of the way?

I run a 6" zone lift with 24x14s and 35x13.50s on a 06 2500HD and dont rub a bit unless I hit a bump. I don't see how you're rubbing with cranked keys and a 6" lift.
@West1134
@West1134 6 жыл бұрын
Techtacular, your lift makes the difference. With the 6” lift, you are raising your body higher above the wheel well, allowing clearance that my truck with just a level (no 6" lift) doesn’t give me.

a 6in lift from stock on a 2500 is not the same as on mine i have a 1500 non hd my stock hight is not the same. all in all i should have bought a duramax lol

@West1134
@West1134 4 жыл бұрын
Right! Yeah I've been so happy with these. I'd love to have the big lifted diesel with 20x14's etc. but I used to daily drive it, now its more occasional and I tow a 5th wheel with it, so can't go too crazy with height, turning radius, messing with oversized tires/gearing etc. without spending $$$$$$. So this level, wheel/tire selection was my happy medium solution. Here's a link to the wheels: www.ultrawheel.com/wheel/8659/203-hunter/ I had Les Schwab (don't know where you live) order them for me. 20x9, -12 offset

Would doing this work on a truck that is kind of lowered from the front with 26" wheels
@West1134
@West1134 5 жыл бұрын
I would imagine it would help, but would be dependent on offset and overall width of the wheel/tire combo. If your wheel/tire combo sit in such a way that your rubbing when turning, then you first need to identify where your rubbing at. If its at the back of the inner fender, then yes it would help. But if your rubbing on like a control arm or something due to it being lowered (I'm just giving an example) then no this wouldn't help. But my gut reaction, is yes I think it would help.

What kind of upper control arms to have there ?
@West1134
@West1134 6 жыл бұрын
Cognito UCA's with uniball upper ball joints & Bilstien 5100's with shock extenders. My truck is leveled (cranked stock tortion bars/keys) by Southern Comfort Conversions (a package GM sold back when my truck was produced). The ride was really rough, so I bought the Cognito UCA kit, which softens the angle with leveled trucks, and increased my ride quality quite a bit. The Bilstien's helped a ton too. Its definitely not as smooth as stock or what a good quality lift would've been, but the cost was a fraction of a lift, and I wasn't going to put it back to stock as I Love the leveled look and bigger wheels/tires.

So if i cut it all off and grinded it smooth(both pieces) would i have more clearance for turning. About to put 33 20x12 -44 under my 06 silverado. Thanks!
@West1134
@West1134 5 жыл бұрын
Tyler Bishop yeah I think so. I’d just suggest taking a chunk out and not going too far to see. If you have to go back in for more so be it. Always safer to go little at a time vs going to far. There is some strength in the metal there that you don’t want to take too much away. I’m running 33x12 -12. You will def have to cut a little more.

You put the plastic back on and zip tied it to the hole to pull it back also?
@West1134
@West1134 6 жыл бұрын
Jeff Meadors correct. Once you bend back the metal which has the hole in it, you can either zip tie it or use a self tapping screw if it doesn’t line up perfectly.

Fox the titlethisthing isnt classic its a fuckin cat eye from the 2000s
@West1134
@West1134 6 жыл бұрын
Well, what would you consider "classic" then? If you look at GM's listing they refer to the 2006 & 2007 as "Classic" body style, then 2007.5 and up became the new body style. Now of course there has been two more updates since they made that decision, so perhaps it isn't considered "classic" anymore, but that is what I've always referred to them as / heard them referred to as. Or old body style (OBS).
@hickr7451
@hickr7451 6 жыл бұрын
West1134 a classic has to be at least 20 years old an obs and square body are the newest "classic" body style trucks this truck is a cateye still some time to go to be classic.
