I always preferred the classic show over the New up and coming . Just to make you smile my old firm Big Bus Tours london at their anniversary had one of our brand new 300k tri axle low floor Volvos and the first bus ever owned by the firm on show outside the entrance , with all mechanical body and parts being sourced "In House " the owner Des Maybury was told not to go over 75k to make it roadworthy and look good ,rumour around the yard was he'd done double that . And that Peaky Blinder Escort paint job looked like fluid .Another great vid Craig

A local Guy where i grew up in NW Ireland - Donegal, had a Firenza in the 70's. It was white with a set of Cragar S/S 5 spoke chrome wheels, it had the same front spoiler but he removed the front bumper and number plate - not sure how he got away with that but the car looked so much better - Such a neat looking car then and still looks great today - Thanks for the video.

Craig, I can’t believe you are not an authority on the Vauxhall Firenza cars! Based on the famous Vivas, They are ultra British and the main competitor to the escorts back in the sixties and early seventies in the Touring class races. Engines ranged right up to the superb 2300 straight six motor and were considered by most as “a bit more glamorous” than the Escorts. I think Gerry Marshall drove one very successfully but I’ll be corrected on that…( your a bit too young so I’ll let you off this time ha ha!)😊
@performanceclassics19863 жыл бұрын
🤣 yeah I should have known this info Phil, but I’ve just never seen one at a show or on the road before. I could very well believe they were a competitor to the escorts. They are a stunning looking car. Don’t know where it all went wrong today. Cars of today are mostly oversized and ugly in my opinion.

@@performanceclassics1986 Hi there really enjoyed the vid. As a South African living in Chile mostly youtube I watch. Now then I was a lucky man to own one of those beauties the chev an am. Limited edition was built for the racetrack to outperform the ford capri peranna that just about owned the track in SA in the 70s era. It was the brainchild of a Basil van Rooyen that built the car and then got chev to sponsor him. A limited amount were sold to the public All matching numbers and I think there are two in England now. A few specs was that it was a crate engine imported from USA. Engine from the corvette 302. The engine was matched t a 4 speed manual muncie gearbox from borg warner. That engine was a good balance between revs and torque. 0 to 100 km 5.64 secs. The car was a monster and was forever leading and winning on the racetrack as well as won just about every rally it took part in. The can am was only produced in white with a black bonnet with square headlights. The only real weak spot was the front suspension was crap. Further than that a real pleasure to drive with having tons of fun. In race trim it was fitted with 335 13 inch tyres at the rear with 225 13 in front. I miss it but hell I am proud to have owned one. This vid was very nostalgic to me as I owned a couple of cars here. An escourt 1600 sport my first car. A mini and a sierra. Thanks mate stay well.
