Beautiful Escort! I'm going to have to check out all of your build videos. I fell in love with the Mk1 after reading an article that Tony Dron did in CAR magazine on his build of one for vintage rally events. We never got a proper Escort here in the US, so I've largely had to admire them from afar. Yours is turned out stunningly!

Very glad that there is a new video, and congratulations on the photo shoot. Something came to my mind that I could've asked for your Q&A video: Many people do this, and so did I (though for me it's quite weird ones) - did you give your cars names?
@performanceclassics1986 Жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣 the mini is called Hector due to the Reg plate but I don’t really have a name for the escort. I’ve thought about it loads but can’t think of a decent one 🤷♂️. Cheers for the comment 👍
@TheCell-vx3pk Жыл бұрын
@@performanceclassics1986 Yeah, now that I looked at the mini's plate, it makes sense. I think the best names are the ones you use to refer to your car with, if you don't come up with a distinct name. I myself don't have actual names for my Fiestas, but the 1994 Calypso I just call Calypso. The 1993 CLX I just call Fiesta.
@honestjohn1129 Жыл бұрын
That thing is a dream car for me - I’ve had no 1&2 fiesta’s , Orion’s mk 3 escorts ( had a red standard one & had a recon xr 3 lump it it & it went like stink back in the day ) I would have one now but the Mrs isn’t so keen 😢

Fantastic build, and good on ya! Watching your videos has inspired me to buy one and hopefully complete it to a reasonable standard….but you’ve probably been asked 100 times but what is the name of the colour..and what colour are the strips. Cheers 👍🏼
@performanceclassics19867 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment 👍. The colour is Sebring Red and from memory I think the stripes are saffron yellow from DMB Graphics. Best of luck with your build 👍

Hiya Craig, congratulations on the magazine absolutely stunning fair play, I was wondering if you had any trouble with the wildwood master cylinder leaking on the brake pipe fittings as I can't stop it dripping a little bit, any advice would be much appreciated Thanks.
@performanceclassics1986 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark 👍. I haven’t had any leaks on the pipe fittings but did have a small leak from the filling cap for a while. That seams to have resolved itself now. I had a bleed nipple on one of the princess front callipers that just kept weeping no matter how tight it was 🤦♂️
@markgillett3563 Жыл бұрын
Ah cheers Craig thanks for the fast reply, I've just remade the pipe haven't tried it yet, hopefully it will stop weeping fingers crossed 🙄 Thanks again Craig.💎

what kind of timing belt tensioner are you using on your ST170?

It's just the one that comes in the cam belt kit. Theres 1 idler pulley and 1 tensioner pulley mounted next to each other just below cylinder head height

Nothing in that switch will or can effect the speed of engine cranking try replacing your starter motor that is your problem
@performanceclassics1986 Жыл бұрын
Starter motor is brand new but since I replaced that switch, cranking speed has been normal so the increased resistance in the old switch contacts has been the issue
