What I always love about your videos is that you are precise in your instructions and include both imperial and metric units in your video. Other videos seem to say "add the brown sugar" and the only way of knowing how much is to click on a separate link. Adding to that is the fact you're funny and your kitchen is lovely! You also have a way of making baking less intimidating for the inexperienced. Thank you!

what makes John different from the other cooks is that he gives us the measurement of ingredients in both cups and grams which actually goes a long way and is very helpful since i don't have a measuring cup and only a weighing scale. keep up the great work John . love you
@_-fallegvenus-_480123 күн бұрын
Meanwhile over here it's much more common to have measuring cups than weighing scales! I thought these scales were only in commercial business, since cups are so easier to achieve
@johnrhoadssr18 күн бұрын
I’m trying to understand that because he says 2 1/4 cup or 270 grams but the calculator I see online says that 270 grams equals 2 1/8 cup
@prashank3 күн бұрын
@@_-fallegvenus-_4801you should get a scale, they're very cheap and will fix a lot of baking mistakes. Since cups don't account for the amount of air, a lot of mismatches can happen.

10/10 loved this recipe with my own additions, turned out GREAT. ADDITIONS AND CHANGES: i 100% recommend using cake flour or adding in baking powder along with the baking soda. (3/4 tsp) I also just browned the butter instead of using softened butter, you can also just melt it in the microwave. used 1 cup of JUST dark brown sugar. def cut the sugar amount otherwise it would be WAY to sweet. added a teaspoon of espresso powder for an extra nutty flavor. added 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to the dry ingredients.

I love seeing how differently we bake around the world! No one eats cookies and milk where I'm from. We have tea and biscuits and in general we don't have chewy cookies - they're usually crunchy or almost powdery if they're soft. People need to understand that the butter temperature plays a major factor in if your cookies come out cakie, chewy, crunchy, soggy, if the butter is melted, softened, cold or room temp, microwaved melted butter also changes the final product. Also, baking soda v baking powder, how good your flour is that you're starting with. If you Google it, you can find a chart that shows all the variations that take place when all these factors are taken into account. Those that had cakie, or too soft cookies in the past, unfortunately had a recipe that was slightly different than the one above or they decided to substitute ingredients or processes. Please follow his recipe to the letter, you will have a fantastic cookie.

Right, I've followed this guide twice. First time I used a substitute for baking soda. Turned out good, but not what I wanted Tried again today with bicarbonate of soda and it was great. Light crunch on outside, soft and chewy on the inside. I used margarine instead of butter. Used tablespoons to form 'balls' as they were too sticky with hands. Loved them, thanks for the video!

The best chocolate cookies I have ever made!!! You were right when you said that no one could eat only one, they are addictive!!! Greetings from Guatemala.

Made these for the family and it took some convincing that I actually made them. They didn’t believe I could make something this good. Thank you for making this video.

This came out great for me. I added 1 tablespoon of organic cocoa processed with alkali for a deep brown color.
