A shave using the classic Grey Flannel aftershave from Geoffrey Beene first introduced in 1975. I used it a lot in the 1980’s. This video is another in a series where I try some classic Aftershaves and Colognes. The newer Shaving generation might not have heard of these classics.

Happy Birthday, Ken. Now, you should have done a Birthday shave, or maybe your next one. Ahh, what memories of Disney. In my case was Disneyworld in Orlando. My last trip was our wedding trip in December of 1991, wow, 26 years already. Can't believe it has been that long. We spend Christmas Eve​ in Disney. What a magical time. Definitively need to take the wife back, maybe to Disneyland this time.

Good evening Ken! Thank you for continuing your classic aftershave series. I keep laughing at the memory of your son using the Muhle R41. I can imagine that he thinks you are a bit crazy to use that unsafe razor. The Disney ride system sounds much the same as I have done at most amusement parks; Popular rides early. Even with the Muhle R41, my wire whiskers need 3 passes shave plus a clean-up/pick-up pass. Sometimes my skin doesn't like it. Hey, that is what they make the cold water and aftershave products for, right? Thank you for shaving all the clips and stories. I really enjoy watching. Take care.

You're a brave man, Ken. In your defense, I will say you took every precaution for this hand held guillotine. Proraso soap doesn't have ample slickness itself. The use of the pre-shave bolstered this deficiency. You also made use of the Gillette Wilkinson Sword, a sharp, yet buttery smooth blade. This episode was suspenseful with each pass, but we all were rewarded at the end with great results. Happy Belated birthday, Ken. Enjoy the week's remainder..

Hi Ken. A pleasant video again. I like these clips that you throw in. :-) Proraso does not only the green, red and white lines, there is also a blue and a yellow line. And there are two new lines or sub brands of Proraso called "Single Blade" and "Sul Filo del Rasoio". And the Mühle R41 as well as the Mühle R89 are still both available as a 3-piece razor AND as a 2-piece razor called TWIST.

Great shave Ken! Sorry for being late to the video. Grey Flannel, I had actually scored dates while wearing that, back in "the day". Nothing like a woman breaking the ice due to the scent profile you are wearing. Love using the R41, however, usually my go-to blade with it is a voshkod. I thought my R41 was a newer model.(Not sure now) it's a 3 piece. I also tried it with the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade because it's my go-to blade. Didn't seem to be a very good combo, maybe I got a dud. I'll have to try it again. Great vid/shave!

I heard somewhere that the 3 piece and the twist to open r41 got more or less the same head design. They did change the head design to a bit milder design, but that was before they introduced the twist to open I think.

Great shave Ken & glad to hear you're feeling better. I never shaved with the old version of the R41 but I do have the new version which is 3 pieces. I'm told by some that there was really no difference between the 2 versions. It's a 2 pass BBS shave with a month old beard. I still cringe when I hear what blade your son put in that razor. That arcade convention looked really cool. I barely remember the name of this cologne. For some reason this one got by me.

Great shave. I hope there's someone out there who happens to be making a shaving soap based on the Grey Flannel. I like playing retro games too. I play vintage Nintendo games mostly from the 90s including N64 games. You may call me a gamer, that's what I am. The upper lip is the most likely place for cuts in my opinion. It always happens to me, but I can resist it by being careful there

Hej Ken, great video again, great funfair, too. The R41, untamable biest? I was close to sell mine, but didnt accept it cant be taimed. Glycerin preshave soap plus Haslinger sheepsmilk (the slickest in my den) and KAI blade did the trick. 2 passes, on par with straights, less prone to cuts... cheers, Achim+

Nice shaving just like always i got to say old style shaving is better than todays shaving since i started shaving like the 70s or 80s i stoped getting irritation on my beard area probably is according to the blade one blade one pass less irritation.

There are three versions of the Mühle R41. The version 1.0 was made from 2009 - 2011 and looked like this: nassrasieren.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0325.jpg The 2.0 was made from June 2011 until the end of 2012. On the sides the edges of the blade were more exposed. The razor is said to be most aggressive. Since 2013 the 3.0 version is made and additionally it is also available as a two piece - twist to open.
