I notice that Service Merchandise provided a lot of gift certificates for certain prizes. For those who are curious, I looked up the history of the company, and it seems interesting. The company was forced to go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1999, and closed all its stores in 2002. However, the name was revived in 2004 as an online store.

I remember shopping there with my dad in mid to late 80’s in Chicago. You would shop the showroom and then your purchase would come down a huge conveyer belt from the back. I remember it being super cool to watch, it was unlike anything in any other store around. If memory serves the products came from the second floor of building.
