Decided to look up a review for this, since I got one of those AtGames handhelds with 40 Genesis games on it, and Arrow Flash is one of them. Not a bad game at all, and probably a gateway title for the heavier shooters.
@Relugus16 жыл бұрын
This game has some fantastic music. Its not in the same league as ThunderForce II and IV but its a good solid shoot'em up. Shoot'em ups flourished on the Megadrive/Genesis. There's so many qaulity titles, including this.

Yeh I love physical copies for the box art, and the cartridge/book art. But also to play the games on original hardware. There's just something so cool about having a real piece of gaming history. I love getting books where someone from long ago has written codes up the back.

When you just want to rip through the enemy like so much tissue paper: At the options menu, switch the setting, ''Arrow Flash'', from ''Stock'', to ''Charge''. When the story demo is over, wait for the demo of the gameplay to begin. Then press Start to start the game. Now, when you hold C for five seconds, you'll be invincible for about 10 minutes.

Got mine boxed years ago, less than 10 bucks. This was back when Genesis games were cheap and easy to get ahold of, unlike SNES games which were already inflating in value. Sadly now, like the SNES, Genesis game prices are rising, and for collectors, this is not a good thing. The Genesis and the Gameboy were the last bastions of cheap games to get, though the GB games have mostly remained affordable. It's also the reason I have 173 Genesis/MD games, and only 161 SNES/SFC games (though the latter I am trying to balance out with the Genesis stuff).

I agree, the games they put out were well above average. Oddly enough, Renovation Products never actually *developed* anything -- they were only a publisher, who mostly localized Wolf Team's games (El Viento, Sol-Deace, etc.) But Arrow Flash, as well as Gain Ground, were actually developed by Sega. I wonder why it is that they outsourced their games to Renovation for U.S. publishing, but released them under their own label overseas? (The game boxes & title screens reflect this difference.)

I personaly really wonder what would,ve happened if sony failed with their playstation or what if sony was in charge to make use of the word playstation and that they had to pay nintendo billions of dollars because of the high sales,that would,ve be a great revenge from nintendo. I also hope that sega will take revenge on sony by releasing a new console and selling over 160 million consoles of it to exceeed the ps2 sales,hah.

I'm sorry, but IMO this game sucks. There are so much better hori-shmups in the Genesis library it's not even funny. Another one made by the same Renovation is Whip Rush - a clear evolution from Arrow Flash and a better game overall.

@deadlygroove1 Yes, what "sounds" better is subjective, so your statement is subjective as well... But what's not subjective is technical specification, and in that there is no debate. The SNES sound chip was technically superior. The SNES sound chip was capable of 16-Bit CD-quality stereo sound. The Genesis sound chip was not. And I'm not arguing SNES vs Genesis either and didn't imply that argument, as it would be ridiculous for me since I owned both and loved both...
@TheCrazyStudent15 жыл бұрын
What you say may be true, I don't know about that since I've never played Warcraft 3. But "All your base are belong to us" doesn't come from Warcraft originally. It's from the opening of the PAL version of Zero Wing, with is a game for the Sega Mega Drive. The PAL version, which was released in 1991, had really poor English translation. I doubt that Warcraft 3 was even released in 1991, or am I wrong? You could search for "All your base are belong to us" on wikipedia for some more info. :)

Can you please review either or both- Insector x and Phelios on the Genesis..? That would be sweeeeeet!
@AllPro77712 жыл бұрын
@deadlygroove1 Yeah, I forgot about the KHz difference, but it's pretty close. And it can be argued that many SNES games sounded as good or better in quality than lots of PS1 and Sega CD games, since not all of those games took full advantage of the hardware or took poor advantage of the hardware.
@AllPro77712 жыл бұрын
@deadlygroove1 It's MY opinion? No way! I thought it was Jesus Christ's opinion... *GASP* Anyway, compared to the board the SNES had, it sucked ass. Even with the addition of the 32X. Perfect example: listen to the music for Doom on SNES, then listen to the music for Doom on 32X. SNES kills it.
