What is even worse is they were making Darkwatch 2, but it was cancelled. And what makes that even worse is the plans they had for Darkwatch. They wanted each game to be set in different eras like one in ancient Rome or during WW1 or the Crusades. Such potential. Shame.

I've always loved your channel. as a matter of fact i should thank you for introducing me to Red Faction.One day i was just on your channel and i noticed you liked and did reviews on lots of ps2 games i love.Then i saw you do a review on Red Faction and immediately i just had the urge to buy that game, and i eventually did. Now I've always been a hardcore PlayStation 2 fan even after ps4's release. But when i found out about Darkwatch, again i had the same urge to get it like i did 2 years ago with Red Faction. Keep doing ps2 reviews because not only do you introduce great games to people like me, but its fun WATCHing the little bit of comedy you throw in there. Thanks.

I remember playing a demo version of this game on some disc I got with a magazine years ago. I miss that old format where when you were hyped about a game you went and bought the new monthly magazine and got a few demos and extras. Now things are all so different, a disc based demo now sounds pretty outlandish and you can find all your news and reveals about a game on youtube. I might try and find that old disc and play it again lol.

The closest thing we'll ever get to The Grinder, the wii horror shooter that never came out. Man was I excited when they announced it, and today I know it's never going to be released for who knows what reason. But this game really looks similar, so because I never played either, now will definatly give this hidden gem a go. Thank you Mark for reviewing this piece of art, if you say its lot of fun, then its a must buy for me!!! Cheers!!!

I actually bought this game when it was new, and it was pretty cool. It was creepy, but kind of in a silly way. It also has a wild west theme, which mixed kinda strangely with the horror theme. I remember there was a lot of controversy about this game because it included two sex scenes, one for each of the girls you can hook up with. It's still a great game though, and it has that whole "light side vs dark side" from Knights of the Old Republic.

As I wrote, English isn't my native language, it's not perfect. In fact, it's nearly good. I make mistakes. And guess what, I'm completley fine with that. I don't find myself "pretending" or "acting" to be "smart". I just am what I am, and this is my way of doing things. If this means being nice to another person, I'll stick with it. Also, I'm probably a bad actor and believe me, there're way smarter people than me. So, people being "smart" make you rage? Well, whatever. You have fun with that.

Then we share the same opinion. I also think that Painkiller is a better game. In fact, Painkiller is one of my all-time favorite shooters ;P Sure, Darkwatch has got some interesting design, atmosphere and while it is still looking to be quite a decent game even this day, it just didn't aged that well. Painkiller on the other hand, having in mind that is more of a "arena shooter", even this day is considered to be a great oldschool style, fast-paced game with some lovley and addictive gameplay.

Why so dramatic? I guess that a somewhat polite response, with some information to a stranger on the internet is not what you call a good response. A good response needs to make no sense whatsoever, with an insult, for good measure. You see, there are some people on this planet that care about their presence on the internet, and try to not make themselves look like a idiot or act like a douche. Tend to be informative and overall nice. It's easier to talk to people that way. You should try it.
@defosh369
@defosh369 11 жыл бұрын
Nope good sir, you're sadly incorrect. Darkwatch was made by High Moon Studios in 2005 in the US for PS2 and Xbox. Painkiller was made by People Can Fly in 2004 in Poland for the PC (and later on ported for the Xbox with a set of levels from the standard game and it's expansions). Those two games may have some similarities in visual design or style (at least at some points, Painkiller definitely has more variety), but are very different games made by a completley different developer.

Darkwatch was met with a generally positive critical reception, being often acclaimed for its relatively unique Weird West style setting. The game was accompanied by an extensive promotional campaign and was planned to be the first installment of a new media franchise, but its sequel got canceled in 2007 and the film adaptation remains in development hell. (quote wikipedia). *sighs*

On the ps2, this was an epic game to have in your collection(because of the relative lack of fps'). But on the xbox it just didn't stand out. I was extremely excited for this game to come out, and like it well enough when i played it, but aside from a huge "cool" factor, it wasnt really anything special. It's almost overwhelmingly repetitive. That having been said, time has been kind to it. For ps2 owners it's still a cool game to pick up, and now only costing~5$ it's worth every penny.

I highly recommend people buy it (if you dont mind PS2 graphics) There is also split screen Co-op (the entire campaign,not side missions),and competitive MP,but only offline. It was WAY ahead of its time. (there is also a sex scene in the game)

6 bucks for xbox. I live in Hungary and I have an NTSC PS2 (some of my PAL games are not okay on my PAL 60GB PS3 so I buy them for my NTSC PS2). I do have to count the postage as well but that's not the thing that costs much. It's the "complete with case, artwork and manual" thing that costs a lot. And I need all 3.

Like Super Metroid on the SNES, Dark Watch suffered the same fate. It was produced at the very end of the PS2 - Xbox Life cycle. Hype for the new PS3 and Xbox 360 Overshadowed this great little gem. I've been craving a Darkwatch sequel for years now. When the game "Gun" came out, with its free roam, side missions and whatnot, I couldn't help but think of how awesome it would be if Gun had been Darkwatch 2. @WebVManReturns exactly. It looked great, and played well. But it was also short, and there was little to do once you had beaten it... as well as not having online support(as i recall). For the 50$ i paid for it, it just wasnt worth it. But for the 2$ you spent it a cool piece to have.

Also... Funny that you mention Darkwatch needing a sequel,Mark. Around the time of the PS3s launch,there was a short video shown of Darkwatch 2 gameplay (just the character walking around in a dark train). Which might have been just a tech demo,because as we know... There never was a Darkwatch 2 :(

I played it as a rental. I probably couldn't get into the style as much as most people, but I still enjoyed it somewhat. I do wish the main character had more personality and a bit more style. The lady too, but she's pretty inconsequential anyway.

Happened to walk into a gamestop the day this game released way back. Bored with most everything at the time, the whole vampire cowboy thing caught my attention. Remains a favorite to this day and needs a digital rerelease.
