Thank you for finally reviewing this game. It is my all time favorite shmup ever! I'm a huge fan of the whole Darius series, but G- Darius / Darius Gaiden and Dariusburst (Chronicle Saviours) are just some of the greatest the shmup genre has to offer. If you haven't played Chronicle Saviours yet, I HIGHLY recommend it! I play G-Darius all the time, I can actually 1-CC it now with a Silver Hawk technical rank! This game is just the absolute best of the best! ^.=.^

Hey, Mark! First I have to thank you for all your reviews, I love your sense of humor, you always make me smile, and then laugh out loud, even on a most shitty day! Second - G-Darius. I haven't played it back in the PS1 days, back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The first time I've became aware of this game, was when I downloaded Zinc arcade emulator some 10-11 years ago, for my first PC, and this game was one of the bunch I've tried on it. Looking at the graphics I figured out it could be available for PlayStation, but as I said - never seen it for the console. For some reason Zinc didn't play the music, so I created my own playlist in Winamp, and the game rocked with it! Also playing it with my first gamepad was more then enjoyable, but the peak was when my then roommate borrowed a projector to make some art project, and I was lucky to use my wall as a monitor for a week, which made it the best week of gaming and movie watching of my life! And G-Darius played with my friend, cool music, and the whole room darkened with theatre curtains (very thick), during very hot summer (and the projector was producing a lot of heat as well), made it one of the best gaming experiences I've had chance to have. I was never good at this kind of games, but G-Darius just knocked me out in one strong blow. I wish this kind of game was available for 3DS, which is my gaming platform of choice. Keep up the good work! Thanks again :)

Finally got a copy this week. Fuck it's awesome. Can't decide between G Darius or Darius Gaiden on the Saturn. I do know Darius is my favorite shmup series by a mile.

G-Darius is also on the taito legends vol2,for the PS2.Mark the latest one in the series is darius burst for PC,PS4 and Vita id highly recommend it.

I absolutely love this game. While the arcade version plays a LOT better (it's available on Taito Legends 2 for PS2 and XBox) and has free-play mode unlocked by default, the PS version has an awesome Boss Rush mode that you can customize.

the best way to play this is not on the ps1 or ps3, but on the ps2 where it's part of the tatio legends 2 collection that also features darius gaiden.

Oh if only this game was on PS4 with trophies. I'd buy it without question! I sincerely wish Sony would release PS1 games with trophy support on the PS4. . . but I'm sure there's some technical matter involved that makes it harder than it would seem. Sigh. . . I don't know?! For me Darius Gaiden was the best version but it was also the version that transcended from 2D to 3D (as it had a mixture of both elements?!). G-Darius always kinda scared me off but I can't put it off any longer, gonna have to get into this one!!! But Darius Gaiden was my (still!) mainstay!

Everything in Darius Gaiden are sprites, there's nothing 3D about it, spritework on Taito F3 games are some of the best sprites ever created.

Great shooter! The PS1 version has too much slow down. play the Arcade perfect version on PS2's Taito Legends 2 collection for great justice!

Actually... that version runs too fast. I've played the arcade version, and it's speed is actually somewhere between the PS1 and the PS2 Taito Legends 2 version.

Temparment771 I mean compared to G darius it was really lacking a decent story mode, I remember the first part of the story mode in Burst being was intense then the rest was bland, but at least they added the old ships to play with.
