Classic Game Room HD reviews CLEAN SWEEP for Vectrex from 1982. Clean Sweep is a cool Pac Man clone that has a couple of neat features. For starters you are playing as a vacuum cleaner in a bank surrounded by criminals. Vector graphics and awesome sounds make this a must have for Pac Man fever maniacs who just can't get enough Pac Man. Clean Sweep from GCE is on the Vectrex, the vector graphics video game system from the early 80's. Clean Sweep is an old school arcade style video game with a screen overlay and lots of charm. This CGRHD review has gameplay from Clean Sweep on the Vectrex showing game play and screen footage from the game cartridge. This is a must play for retro gamers.

If I manage to get my grubby little paws on a Vectrex, I'm getting someone to build a small console stand with those just for that. Ashtray holder (I don't even smoke, but it sounds like a natural) on the left, Vectrex center, and cup holder right. Nothing big, with handles to lug the whole arrangement around. You, sir, are a genius!

I had an Vectrex as a kid with this an many more titles. In those days a Vectrex console was pretty high-end thing to actually own. There were a couple of video-arcade places were you could rent one, but I didn't know anyone else who actually owned one. One of the first gaming systems that had an analog controller. Those vector graphics were amazing back then with the colorful overlays.

These graphics are mind blowing, since the vectrex could only draw lines, unless it’s possible to fake raster graphics with it by using the scanline trick,not sure how they did this but it’s like magic.

This game is so much better than Pac-Man. Think about Pac-Man getting full of pellets and having a personal bathroom to puke it up to eat some more pellets. Instead of power pellets you get a closet to put on a costume to scare the ghost to death. Thanks for the Vectrex video.

I always loved how the vector graphics allowed for slight variations in the graphics, like how your vac grows in size... you'd need a whole progression of sprites to do that on a normal system, something most systems couldn't handle at the time... allows for way better animation too... they should've made cartoons you could watch on the vectrex... gameboy video my ass, lol.

Another one of my original Vectrex games I've been playing for over 20-something years. Actually, I played this BEFORE ever playing (Ms.) Pac-Man. Anytime someone says "clean sweep," I think of this game. After L-9 (getting only eight dots at a time starting in L-7), it'll be L-∞. I remember doing this with over 63,000 points. Tough but fun play.

I just picked up a Vectrex and 6 games at a yard sale yesterday but that game wasnt in the bunch :0( I got the Vectrex with manual's(No box) and 6 boxed games,all the overlay's ect.. and 2 perfect controllers for $5.00! I about crapped my pants when I saw it and felt bad the woman didnt know what she had when I paid for it but she was happy and I was having a heart attack the whole time until I got it in my car LOL!! @JoostRevo indeed, im much the same, not only does a game have to look good for me to try, it also has to have appealing gameplay also. a game has to both look good and play well. most retro and moderns games for me at least, accomplish these...although i love retro games more. a lot of the time story also helps me decide on it, nothing like a good narrative to check out

Before I got my Vectrex, I'd read quite a few reviews of its various games. A lot of those reviews rate Clean Sweep very poorly - but I think it's actually quite a fun Pacman knock-off. Being forced to return to the vault to clear your vacuum does add a bit of new challenge, enough to make it feel a bit different from Pacman. If I had any really complaint, it's that there is only one maze (like Pacman!). It would have been great if the maze changed up a bit. Ah well...

Dms12444: I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. It's not the game that matters. It's only eye candy. One of the reasons I think people go away from the Wii other than being lazy. Because it doesn't look remotely real all of the time, they ALWAYS hate the games even when they have AWESOME storylines.
