I loved Killzone 2, even more then 3 and i think that Killzone Shadow Fall is just not as impressive as Killzone 2 was for its time. It was the game that made me buy a PS3 when i was only playing PC for 3 years and some PS2 it just amazed me when i saw the 5 min demo on screen in an Italian PCWorld... I will never forget that moment and the moment bought the Killzone 2 PS3 bundle xD

@fagerbag I'll try to explain this. Back during the 70's,80's, and 90's games were mostly made for kids. As the game development companies aged their fans did as well. Since they development companies wanted to keep their customers they decided to make games that would appeal to their aging audiences, which started the development of more mature games. Since the aging customers were a faithful demographic the game development companies decided to produce games mostly for them.

The game looks impressive, has great lighting effects, great sound effects, so much going for it visually, and the quick, fluid gameplay we love, but as is often the case with sequels it is seems to be more of a commodity than the original. Sadly, that. Still, a top-shelf game.

You know that feeling in CoD WaW when you get the MG42 in Their Land Their Blood. That's what the back half of this game feels like and its as good as it sounds. The Helghast light machine gun is probably one of my favorite weapons of all time

Honestly, I hate it when games try to have a realistic and authentic feel to them. Great games embrace the medium they're a part of. That's why I love Metal Gear. They're all so campy and over-the-top, and the gameplay is superb, complementing this tone greatly.

I love this game so much. The death animations were really good, not like scripted ones found in many games today. Top that with one of the most badass villian ever, Colonel Mael Radec, and its easy to understand why this game is still one of my favorite games of all time.

The bullet firing guns behave weird, for some reason they appear to deal more damage and have some sort of assisted aim when firing from the hip, but when aiming down the sights (if supported), adquiring a target is sluggish and innacurate, your aim is always off no matter what, the analog stick is not sensible enough for any marskmanship. They should have implemented the sixaxis function of the sniper rifle on the rest of the aimable guns so you can correct what the analog stick can't do.

Well yeah, it's your perception of it. If you like this better than Call of Duty, congrats! we're on the same page! But then why would you want it to compete directly to the call of duty series? This stands out because, for the most part, it DOESN'T do what CoD does. So i just have a hard time understanding how it would be a benefit to the series if it adapts to appeal to CoD fans as well? @shadowwolf426 the press are given a date for when they can publish reviews. the embargo is lifted at the same time for everyone, maybe one magazine or site get's a little exclusive first. you know a game is shit when the developer doesn't allow reviews to be printed till the game is already out so people will go out and buy it without hearing anything negative. killzone 3 is superb and like other games of this calibre the review can be printed inadvance as they have confidence in their product.

@leftstanding I'm not gonna lie, I myself would like to see the controls refined and a little more responsive in KZ3, but I hate the generic left trigger, right trigger setup of those games, that's why imo Resistance 2 kinda bombed for trying to be too user-friendly and Fall of Man ironically lived on. But back on topic, I've never been an FPS guy, but the gritty realism of KZ2 (backed up by the control scheme) made it such a breath of fresh air and changed my entire outlook on the genre.

I stopped trying ot beat KZ2 in elite mode because the controls made it that much harder to play, espeicially with a harder difficulty level. But trust me, KZ3 learned from KZ2's mistakes. True that, but I think the DualShock 3's 'triggers' were designed with driving games higher on the priority list, like foot pedals, but it needs to be used for actual driving games like Gran Turismo, L2 and R2 for Ridge Racer rip-offs like NFS is a chore.

I don't know if killzone 3 is worth keeping. Killzone 2 was ridiculously awesome but I found killzone 3 to be less like killzone and more like trying to be COD or BF, no weight in the new one, its really short and it just seemed worse. Killzone 2 made me feel like holy crap this used to be at the arcade in pickering mall now its in my living room. COD4, MW2, BF3, then in 4th place Killzone 2 different and amazing

I emailed GG in the past saying that they should totally redesign the series, dropping the stupid ISA being good helghast bad crap which irritates me. I think there should be more planetary enemies maybe, and double crosses.. make the ISA turn bad for instance, because the writer never even gave any moral differentiation between isa and helghast other than it being planet USA versus planet England. Bring in storyline elements like mercs and tribes and stuff

@fagerbag games that are great for kids usually have either an E or T rating on them. Some great game series for them would be: Tekken , Soul Calibur, Dragonball Z, Lost Planet, Burnout, Wipeout, games from NaughtyDog, games from Insomniac, games from Suckerpunch, etc. There is a wide array of games on the market for anyone (that's part of what makes gaming awesome) but you have to spend quite a bit of time searching for the games that work for you.

Adults demographics will do that, whereas kids will lose interest in a game much faster than that. That's why game companies cater to adults. @GorillaKingdomFN exactly. compare reach to killzone 2. do a body count after the fight in Visari Square, there are almost as many dead ISA as there are helghast. In Halo, you always seem to save the day, your apparently losing the war against the covenant but after every big firefight there are like 30 dead aliens for every dead marine. Killzone takes realism to a whole new level, after those huge firefights, you look at how many soldiers you lost and you're like "woah, that was fucking close"

@Baderporn theyre good and very detailed. resolution is 720 and 1080i so theyre not as good as any of the latest games like MW2 which has 1080p graphics & better detail, but considering this is a 2008 ps3 title, first in the console, u really cant compare it to a series which has 4 games already on the console. plus this was when devs were still trying to get used to the PS3. oh an also consider how much stuff theres going on in the screen... and the game is supposed to be dark cuz of helgan

@theachtungtree But there is two thing's halo has that killzone 2 doesn't and that is 4 player split screen or 16 player system link whit just 4 xbox's and the ability to play co-op on the one screen. the second is the ability to use vehicles in multiplayer. I think halo, killzone and mass effect are all good games if you want an example of a bad game play pirates of the Caribbean at world end on PS2 or ET.

@orangedac well, if you're one of those dudes that are crazy about graphics you will probably enjoy this game. but if you're someone who actually cares for gameplay you should go with either battlefield bad company 2 and/or modern warfare 2, depends on what you like. the most obvious downside in killzone 2 probably is the multiplayer, not many servers and nearly no guns. and the single player isn't half as intense as modern warfare 2, so... but if you can get it for under 20 bucks, go for it

I'v been playing games for years I know what Im talking about... The graphics are good on killzone but the animation is to much kinda, it almost gives off a cartoony feel and look, thats just my opinion tho... I compard both Killzone 2 and Gears of war 2 on my LG 37" Scarlett witch was running both on 1080p and HDMI at the same time, and to my surprize gears of war two was actully quite abit better witch I didnt expect. And i just think COD has a more solid/stable look and the gameplays better

@chickenryano Halo 3 isn't gay but you have a bit of a point. Allot of the environments in Halo 3 are caves, forests, mountains, and so on. I also noticed that when people die there is no gore, the just fall down. And online you play as soldiers wearing multi-colored suits and helmets. Killzone 2 is allot darker since the environments look much more grittier and when you head shot someone their head explodes. And one side is actual soldiers and the others look like Space Nazis.

However, to be fair, kz3 was actually a very good game! It actually surprised me at how good it was. After 3, I'm really expecting kz4 to be an even better game. I'm just saying that the hit detection could be a bit better, honestly i got both xbox 360 and ps3, but i still havent found a game that actually makes u feel like ur shooting the enemy. So far only gears 2, halo 3 and uncharted 2 have actually done a good job with shooting mechanics. Oh and resistance 2, almost forgot.

I'm not the biggest fan of these linear First Person Shooters, but I have to say Killzone is by far the best. How the Xbox fanboys can compare the Mattel guns and feathers of Halo to the visual mastery & gritty realism of KZ is beyond me. Well actually it isnt - it stinks of envy & desperation. Who fancies a game over FREE PSN?

i'm a little skeptical when it comes to newer games especially FPS, after playing crysis i was a little let down, i mean eye candy sure, i didn't feel compelled to play on though. Killzone 2 could be what GeOW1/2 wanted to be, i don't know, i'll try KZ2 out eventually but hope it's more than just a generic shooter with gorgeous eye candy visuals.

i just love how this game uses the Sixaxis :D like if you have to turn a valve or plant a C4 you use it (other games should learn from KZ not from COD)

I see what you're saying. I don't want this series to sell out like CoD, but I want Killzone to do for the FPS genre what Gran Turismo 3 did for the racing simulation. Just a weird way of me saying that the Killzone series is very underrated (Understood that Killzone is PlayStation exclusive, but still)

@BeautifulMawMusic I know; just because the wii's graphics are a little... you know doesn't make it any less than what it is: a gaming console. I hope Nintendo really puts a lot of effort into the next gen console, though, to give all these other consoles a run for their money. :)

This game almost resembles.. Gears of war1 and 2.. i have a 360 and just ordered a ps3 along with this game and i can see the same idea.. locust.. robots soilders.. then you have your squad which is like the gear squad looking forward to playing the game. I like both systems!

@CentsTwo Lets put it this way. I was just playing it today. you'll find more players in their 32 player rooms then in black ops. I respect what Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 have done for their online community. I would say the same for Uncharted 2 but I don't own the game.
