I'm proud to say I own this game, love it. It made me start reading the manga Berserk, and this game makes a LOT more sense when you know what's going on. So this game fails at being a stand-alone story, you need background info for it. The characters are so much more cool in the manga as well: Guts, Caska, Skull Knight, and Zodd the Immortal (the hardest boss) he's really cool. I got disappointed when the PS2 Berserk never made it to the US.

Well, you need to keep in mind that this review was made in 2000, and the Berzerk manga and anime weren't available in the US until 2003 and 2002 respectively.

Interesting thing about the Dreamcast is that graphically a lot of the games are still of an acceptable quality even by todays standards, it was before it's time! Did you ever ask publishers for review copies for games back in those days or were these games all bought yourselves?

I burned this game for my Dreamcast two nights ago, and I'll agree, it is about 2/3s movie. My save didn't work correctly, I had played about 2 or so hours. Whenever I got home I turned on the game, and got back to where I was by skipping all the cutscenes, in about..fifteen to twenty minutes. It's pretty short. Also the large one horned black beast they fight, is hard as hell, trying to beat him right now actually. I wouldn't recommend a buy, but definetly a download or a borrow.

They are called Mandragora, and they are real, they don't kill people though. Their roots form in a rather odd way which look like little humans, which caused very old legends to encompass them WAY before J.K. Rowling wrote about them.

thanks for reviewing this game. However, this game was mostly aimed at the fans of the manga which is hugely popular around the world. and therefore people that havnt read it, or seen the anime version of it.. dont really get it all what all stuff is and every characters background story. I understand that you wont like it if you are new to the story.. but if you are a fan of the manga, i think you would enjoy it abit more.

No he doesn't; Cam Clarke, the voice of Puck the fairy, voices Liquid Snake in MGS, NOT Raiden. Raiden is voiced by Quinton Flynn!

whatever these guys don't no shit about the complete story and plot of berserk, berserk is the best anime of all time and itz had two great games :) love the footage of the game though lol

Wow this review doesn't hold up through the test of time. I bought it for 8 bucks and the violence in this isn't much compared to what ever is out now. As for length...It has a perfect length...These kind of games shouldn't be RPG length unless the gameplay does a major shift and makes you want more.
