This channel kicks ass! That intro lick earned a sub and share. Keep at it, this channel definitely has the potential to become a solid candidate for mid tier ( 250-600k subs, it's honestly insanely hard to push pass that without loads of backing cash from ads and algorithms funds 😅). Regardless, your channel has helped us. Thanks, brother. Brutal.

I am looking for a good Progressive Metal guitar lesson. Aaron Marshall does some lessons but I haven't seen actual writing lessons. I probably need to buy some tab or sheet music of a song to really break it down to understand the writing.

The techniques are all the same. Downstrokes, palm muting, alternate picking, etc. It's more so the type of progressions. I'd point you towards Dream Theater for that.

For an instrumental guitarist like me, verse part does not always come into picture. Yes, my Lead guitar could play something similar as lyric written on screen. That's the only catch for me, otherwise I am going to play it with less distortion and low tempo to be more melodic as well. Cheers!
@jasonstallworth3 жыл бұрын
That's a great method to get those melodies

confusing explanation sometimes, but i got the hang of it. maybe include tabs on screen or go slower at some points. you start a sentence to explain what's played and mid-sentence you go with another tip instead of giving the correct order of the notes..
@jasonstallworth2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. More important that learning these riffs note for note are the concepts. And applying those concepts to write your own riffs. And also learning to use your ears more and not rely on tabs and details. But try to listen and then play the riff how you interpret it. Hopefully that makes sense
@marshalfrancis33532 жыл бұрын
@@jasonstallworth yep it does. That's what I had to do anyhow, because sometimes I got confused. I'm trying to learn the methods and concepts behind it but therefore I need to know how to play it correctly so I can make sense of it. Thanks for the reply
