I think already in Classic some members of the forsaken felt sort of human and relatable, in a way. Just the faction as a whole appeared more subdued and methodical, after the gory madness of Warcraft III and before them becoming a military powerhouse in Cataclysm. I did very much enjoy bits and pieces of the forsaken lore in Before the Storm book, especially the "sachet lady" scenes, but I thought it was more of a callback to these original WoW characters and the general vibe of loss and despair and misery and so on. Not a new development or a particularly strong attempt to humanize them, in other words. But that's just my personal take, of course. And at the same time, yeah, not the _good guys_ by any stretch of the imagination. 😅

Ahhh I see! TBH, I've always mained Alliance so I had no good sense of the Forsaken myself, only what other people told me. I'm definitely excited to try out classic Tirisfal Glades at some point though and see what that's like.
