Love the car. I am doing a similar build putting same engine in a hillman imp. What bhp is it at now? Also did you used the original pg1 gearbox and what upgrades to it other than atb diff?

Hi, still rebuilding the new engine so no power output yet but should be approx 300bhp and just over 600kg. Other than the ATB diff the gearbox is just fitted with the steel caged bearings and the correct MTF94 oil

hey, mate just as a rough estimate how long do you reckon it took you to do this car? and is there a lot of custom fabrication gone into this? also, do you have a 16v mini forum account?

It's taken over a year so far and everything has been custom made!!. Lots of the build got lost on the 16v mini forum when the site crashed.. But this is the more recent www.16vminiclub.com/showthread.php?t=36391

What power are you running? Are you using forged internals or standard?

Its currently being rebuilt with ductile liners, solid cam vvc head, 630cc injectors, gt28 turbo and meth/water injection kit would like 280bhp+ .. was just running 8 psi on the standard turbo in this video.

what power would that make on standard turbo? I am trying to find the limits of the standard internals. Car looks a beast. My dad had a 1275 rover special project mini.

rowanlewisuk the standard turbo is good for 220bhp at 12/13psi.. mixture stories about standard internals but a few cars in the 250/270 region and another at 370ish in a lotus with a standard block

Normally the liners crack before you will have any piston/conrod issues
