Classic Mini 1100 Rebuild ( Midweek Update ) Part 21

This Sunday 24th Christmas Eve we should have the engine back in the subframe and running. We will then need to get the bespoke carpet set made up before we can fit the interior back in the car.

You did well to get your front sub-frame fitted so easily. I installed a new Heritage sub-frame to a new Heritage bodyshell a couple of years ago and it was really tricky to get the mounting holes lined up.

Graham, The four bolts in the toe board mounting dropped straight in the only one we had to adjust over was the drivers side 🤔 I will do a string test as per the BMC book but I‘m very confident the subframe is pretty much bob on. Cheers Dave

@@ClassicCarCave I keep looking over the camera's shoulder. The work bench next to the lift seems to have fantastically organized small shelving. If I'm seeing that correctly this is genius! Typically the spaces under work benches are clogged, jammed, and constipated with large parts and welders that didn't fit anywhere. They are cavernous voids waiting for a mountain climbing washer or nut to fall only to never be found again. You have brought workbench science into the 21st century! Okay...I'll sit back down and focus on the video now.

John, Thank you. I will be very happy if we can at least move it under it‘s own power before Christmas but I hope to have it finished by Feb some time 🤔 The car will not be picking it up till at least May sometime so we have plenty of time to do some nice finishing touches. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave hope you are well,Qs for ya ,iam planning on moving to turkey in the next year and hoping to take my mini with me,in turkey you can only keep a right hand drive car for years on the road,as my car hasn’t had the engine fitted as of yet iam considering changing it to left hand drive,I can purchase the a left hand drive steering rack and lights ,what iam struggling with is the master cylinder/ servo and pedals, I believe the master cylinder stays where it is and rod connects to the other side,have you any contacts to purchase these left hand drive parts thanks Jim

Jim, I‘m not 100% sure but I think you can just move them over as you have the option with the front bulkhead to fit the masters either side but the clutch slave cylinder would have to be routed with along pipe.
