Based on your KZbin demo of craftmaster paints I had a go painting a 50 yr old mini. Great decision. No masking, 3 top coats, the paint appears self levelling, and I'm a beginner. Total spend including craftmaster primer was £168, with a litre leftover. Great natural sheen without any clear lacquer on top.

Wow amazing looking, my first car was a 1979 Leyland Mini 1000 ,though she'd had an 850cc engine in her. Most economical car i ever owned. I wish I'd known the proper way to brush paint back then. I brushed her with black smooth finish Hammerite lol. It looked that night, ill say no more ha ha.

I have a soft spot for that colour love a classic car/van or bus in beige and little bits of chrome to make it pop, that's a super job. I have watched each video 3 fold to learn the techniques. Is she dry stored over the winter.

She was under the carport, till I swapped her for a Hillman super minx Convertible which is now in the same place underneath the carport 🤷♂️

Hi Steve, I really liked your coach painting videos and I’m now keen to repaint my MG, you may have already mentioned it but could you let me know the rough quantities of paint you needed for the mini to give me a guide for ordering the paint for the MG, many thanks

I must say your car looks stunning. However, given the amount of coats with the primer, undercoats, top coats and clear coats, the amount of time and work (although extremely satisfying) is pretty daunting. Surely it would have been much easier to buy a compressor and spray gun? I love the idea of coach painting, trouble is you make it look all so easy! How long did it take you to paint the car? I have a Morris Minor and the paintwork could do with a refresh, and would love to tackle painting it myself but I would be so worried about messing it up. The finish you’ve got is amazing, did you wet sand and polish the clearcoat at the end? Sorry so many questions, but it just goes to show how your series of videos are of interest to people like myself…

Hi Monty I decided to paint by brush for several reasons, no mess,no fumes, no equipment to buy,no noise, no need for garage although it does help hell of a lot! The trees the cost of a re spray, I was quoted £4000-£8000 🤷♂️ crazy prices, so I took the plunge and researched how the old timers did it years ago. It’s really not that hard to do honestly, don’t get me wrong it’s no wear near as good as the professional guys did it in yesteryears . Professional spraying guys have seen it done and have commented it looks sprayed. I did my mini under the carport in March April, dodging the wind and rain so it took my longer than it should I suppose, but in the right conditions I would say it should take a bout a fortnight to complete, it’s really 1 coat a day,it’s waiting for the paint to dry that takes the time🤷♂️ No cutting or polishing this paint burns if cut ! It’s the finish of the brush. Hope this helps answer some questions, one thing is taking your time do one panel at a time get that right before moving on to the next. I have a Facebook page called (painting old cars and vans) some guys on there that have done there cars copying me. Regards Steve

Fantastic result. Thinking of having a go on my subaru impreza rally car. I dont have the capacity to take the doors off. Are those ok to be painted upright on the car?. Thanks.

@@michaeldavis5462 have you put on minimum 3 coats primer and 3 coats undercoat? It’s all in the preparation to getting good results, I hope this helps you. Regards Steve
