Never apologise for the quality of the photos, as they are just as important to give us an insight into the history of motoring. The MM lowlight Minor in NZ was in use as I recall, and was parked outside a row of wooden style bungalows. The only Morris I've owned was a black 1979 Morris Marina estate. Enjoyable video thank you.

Another very enjoyable video and an interesting historical social record of when it was possible for a family to enjoy a spin in the countryside, often a with a picnic. Not so these days! The Australian photos taken in brilliant sunshine are a real tonic in the current downpours we are experiencing! As ever, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful archive of photos.

Dad’s friend had an Isis, he truly loved it and was constantly cleaning and fiddling with it, I remember he fitted a record player in it, Philips I think, first and only time I’ve seen one in a car

Great video with wonderful photos. Our first car was a Morris 10, 1938. We bought it in 1962. I was 11! The reg was 793 SMM! My Dad was a mechanic, so worked on it himself. I remember the front screen opened for ventilation. It had a sliding sunroof and a cable control above the driver's door, which if you slid it, a rear window blind appeared. I think this 10 was a unitary construction, rare for pre-war. It was in marvellous condition, but used to hold all the other cars up on the single carriageway roads, because it was a bit slow. So my Dad used to pull over and let the other cars pass! I passed my test in March 1968. My first two cars were a 1956 1000 (948cc), then a 1964 Morris 1100, so well designed, shame about the rotting subframes! In my 20's I was a sales rep for Wrigley's chewing gum and drove 2 Marina 1.8 estates. A lot better than people gave them credit for. Loads of low end torque and beefed up rear suspension because of the estate requirements, so handled a lot better than you would think. My paternal grandpa had a series 2 Minor traveller and my great uncle Sid, a saloon minor, also series two. My brother was a sales rep for Rowntrees and had 2 minor travellers, 1964 and 1966. Fantastic cars, the traveller is to me, the best of the Minor range. Should have been a World best seller, but us Brits are great inventors, but terrible merchants! Sorry about the long post, that's what happens when you are retired and reminisce!

You must be about the same age as me, l much prefer remembering my father's cars as my first cars were much more boring in comparison. Earlier examples l remember of my father's cars were a Ford Pilot, a Vanguard van which had windows fitted on the side panels, a Rover 90 which he bought new in the late 50's, l went to the dealership on the Wirral with him to collect it, a Vauxhall Cresta, a Triumph Mayflower, a couple of Ford Prefects, a Rover 2000, an Austin 1800, a Morris 1100, an MG Magnette, a MKII Ford Zephyr 6, a MK lll Ford Zephyr 4, a Ford Lotus Cortina MK ll. His last car before he passed away in 1990 was l think his favourite of all, a 1965 BUN 808 C Ford Zodiac auto which he had kept much longer than any previous car.

My father was BMC through and through, well Ford as well. He hated Vauxhall's and Rootes group cars. A few BMC cars l remember were a Fifties Austin Cambridge, a lovely early 60's MG Magnette 9147 UN, that was one of his cars l really loved, l wish l had it now! A 1965 Austin 1800 FFF 852 E in blue which l drove occasionally after l had passed my test. Another car l remember fondly was a Rover 90 (I think) which he bought new in the late 50's and a lovely 1966 Rover 2000 in Forest green WTE 836 D. The last car he owned was a 1965 Ford Zodiac auto BUN 808 C which after owning many BMC and Ford cars he had kept longer than anything before, l drove that one many times too.

A very pleasant walk back through time. I was just amused by seeing a 1957 Morris Minor 1000 advertisement boasting - "Now you move up twice as fast , 0 to 60 mph in 28 seconds, in the mighty Morris Minor 1000" Thanks for sharing your photos.

Whatever make of car is shown in these great photographs they remind me of my childhood enjoying a day out in whichever car my father owned at the time, usually a Ford or an Austin.

31:14 This photo reminds me of flying from Calais to Lydd with our Austin A55 Countryman en route from Nairobi to London. The car had earlier been lifted off a ship in Naples using the sling system that you show elsewhere.

Lovely to see all the old Morrises. Dad bought an MO Oxford after the war when cars were in short supply, driving it up and down the east coast of Australia from Melbourne to Far North Queensland for business. As a kid I remember there seemed to be a lot more Austin A40s on the road than Oxfords, but I often wonder whether the A40 would have served him as well. He must have been impressed because he replaced it with an early Series II,though he really wanted an Isis. He switched to Ford after the Farina Oxfords came out. I remember him saying in disgust "If I wanted a b****y Austin I:d have bought one"!

Great photos and nicely narrated as usual. Had Morrises for 25 years or so, starting with 1800 and Series VI Oxford, now regularly using my 1000 saloon and Series II Cowley - salt permitting!

Love these shows here over the pond. The Morris Minor in Libya is registered in Tripoli LT = Libie Tripolitania. The one in the picture is almost identical to our 1960 model reg: LT26240. That car survived 3 years in Tripoli and one in Mississippi USA. Wish I still had it. Thanks for your efforts.

One of my great uncles (Fred) had a Morris Traveller. It must have been very early 60's and I remember a toy spider of all things hanging on the rear view mirror.Why I do not know but he was a jolly chap like most on my Dads side of the family. A great collection of photos there Rick thank you and those who also contributed. BTW I could be wrong but one of the dockside scenes did look like Southampton docks. I do concede many docks looked very much the same before the vast container ports we have now. 👍👍

I had several. Mini, Oxfords, 1100 and minors. Best one and most reliable was 1962 Series 6 Oxford. Years later regretted selling it

Usual expert analysis of car models and dates through unique features and registration marks. The now very rare base model Mini early Mk1, 8953 KD at 29.25 no exception .The dark hue of the gleaming bodywork would indicate Cherry Red or Clipper Blue of just 3 colour options.Also patterned grey/white cloth seats , rather than vinyl , body colour painted internal fittings rather than plated on the Deluxe model.

In your opinion, which was the superior mark, Morris or Austin, at the time were they competing on equal terms, or was one claiming to be superior or better value than the other

They were pretty much even I think, it's just a legacy back to when both were separate companies, many buyers had strong brand loyalties and would only buy Austin, or Morris, or whatever, so to cater for them, BMC produced very similar cars but badged up differently.

I remember my father owning an MG Magnette which would have been an early 60's model l think (9147 UN) Basically the same shape as Farina styled Morris and Austin cars but just looked a cut above with the stylish Radiator grille and it's two tone paintwork.My father always kept his cars squeaky clean, it really was a lovely car. God, I'd love to own that car now!

Sorry, but that is a 1961 Ford of the Galaxie persuasion parked next to the Mini, not a 1965 and I should know about the 1965 Galaxies because I drove one from 1973 to 1990. My compliments from my side of the pond to your interesting photo galleries and noticed the Consol and Capri in the background of the Morris Minor MM. Mr. Picky is not adverse to corrections of errors of people on your side of the pond and have been enjoying your photo displays of

I've heard of record players being fitted as an option in some US cars, but not very often in a Brit

@@oldclassiccarUK It’s the o one I’ve ever seen, just looked on eBay and there are some Philips car players for sale, expensive though.
