I didn't understand why you wouldn't replace the bad rail section with the new one till I saw that your welding is as good as mine. Carry on.

I am pretty much a "grinder" as well, but wouldn't a Riv-nut have been a better choice for the front hole?

Me personally I don't care if it's so called "trailer queen" or daily, I do it right. What I have done with them damn nuts is cut out the section then another piece of good metal make a new piece with nuts welded on and put it in. No harm no fowl. I need to do a frame horn at bumper mount. Me just gonna cut off what I need from the new piece and put it in. Not changing anything.

PaTCHING the RAIL, i AGREE WITH. BUT THE WAY HE IS DOING IT IS A CRAPPY REPAIR. YOU MIGHT AS WELL REPLACE THE FRONT 10" OF THIS RAIL. IT IS NOT MUCH MORE DIFFICULT AND WILL BE REPAIrED CORRECTLY.

Cool and helpful videos but I still haven't seen these guys work on classic mopar cars.. no challengers, chargers, barracudas, darts, roadrunners, demons, cornets, gtx's.. it's obvious these guys are not mopar guys since they only do ford's and chevy's.. but oh well...

No problem thanks for bringing it to the forefront for Jeff again. We get so caught up in "doing" at times that we forget to look up!

+Dennis Lafond Please explain your comment. Not angry over here, we like to improve and can't do that off of the limited info provided. You can e-mail Jeff directly if that suits you better. =) jford@autorestomod.com From Jeff: We did this at home in the garage. With full explanation of why we did certain things. We are not professionals. We are hobbist that are better at somethings than others. This video was meant to show that you can work through problems and come out with solutions. We explained that the car is a driver and not a full on restoration, that were it a full restoration we would have gone deeper, done different.

I have seen many of your videos. And you all do real nice work and i have learned alot from your channel. However i don't think the work you did in this episode is up to par. Come on, the rust in that frame section was bad.You had the new section, so i just don't understand why you didn't cut it down and weld in a small part of it. I think welding the nut in that way is not going to last. and the rust on the bottom flange was way past saving. I know you were trying to show a "quick fix" but i expect better from you.

+Dennis Lafond +Auto restored I have to agree. You had the part why not use it to replace it. BTW I enjoy your channel.

+(O=[][]=O) Thanks for the kind words and the info. The replacement of that whole section was not the idea on the video. We were trying to show how to replace the nuts. Often just the nuts will strip out on an otherwise perfectly fine frame rail. That was what we were showing. We might go in and replace the section in another video. Which we would title "Replace Outer Frame Rail Section."

+Jay McDaniel The Riv-nut would stand proud of the rail. But that is a nice thought.
