Thanks for the info.on the bumper. I've always started by attaching fender brackets first, then install 1 nut and bolt nearest to center

You are supposed to use those waffle like wave washers that go between the bumper & the brackets the prevent the bumper surface from sucking down. You had that problem when you mounted the rear bumper

Shaved bumpers always look nice. I have 2, so I may experiment with that.

Great tip Barry! I got the same problem. I'll give your method a go. I was going to make my own bracket, use longer bolt and pack it with washers.

When I built my car, I put rubber tape between parts, all over the place. It is an anti squeak thing for me.

Think when I put a new front bumper on my car back in the 80s I just gave up on those side brackets. When I get around to replacing it again, I will certainly try this trick.

You must have purchased the same “CJ Classics” bumper from CJ pony parts as I did. I have the same problem, I will try your method. Thanks

My bumper is a lot worse than yours. I have nothing to loose so I am going to give it a try with the strap. But first I have to pull the inner brackets off and grind down as I can't even get the bumper to slide in to get the bolts on. Did I mention I hate aftermarket CRAP!

nothing is ever "simple/easy" Barry.. you of all people should know that by now lol. excellent work on that bumper though.. i honestly wouldn't have thought to try that.. my first thought was, well that sucks.. time to cut/weld/re-chrome.. mine didn't fit all that great either, so before pain i'll have to do something.

they make the rubber bolt nut for that bumper to finder bracket

I have a 68 fastback. I can only get to 2 out of the 6 front bumper bolts removed. In your video the bolts under the headlights are so easy to remove. Mine are totally blocked.

Did you remove the valance panel?
