My aunt used to have this exact washer, or at least very close. Hers was a super capacity model, infinite water level, four push buttons in a horizontal row, and the cycle selector which had five wash cycles. The 14-minute part of the regular cycle started at roughly 9:00 on the dial. The handle was plastic like what's found on drop-down-door Whirlpool dryers. She raised five kids on that washer and they lived on a farm, so it saw a lot of heavy use. Hers made all the famous belt-drive sounds as well, even the rhythmic "breathing" the pump sometimes does after drain is complete. I remember that washer so well because it was the last remaining belt drive in my family. She eventually had to replace it with a direct drive, I'm not sure what finally took it out. Belt drive Whirlpools are hands down my favorite washers ever. They are so relaxing to listen to, and they can tackle really large dirty loads well without being overly aggressive, thanks to the long-stroke agitation. If I could find someone to rebuild one for me and I knew they would do it right, I might own one as my primary machine. Direct drives are a close second though, and VMW's really aren't bad either. This one sounds remarkably good for its age. It has a few clicks and squeaks here and there, but nothing at all concerning given it's nearly 40 years old. It would seem this machine could go a few more years easily, especially since you rotate your machines in and out. What an incredible find, you are so lucky!

@@rynerobinson903 Thanks. I wasn’t looking low and high for one either. My friend Pete sent me the Marketplace link for the machine and in the thumbnail it looked in good condition. He said Pat this is right in your town.. so I said why not. I could’ve had the matching dryer also but to tell the truth, I don’t even know if it was electric or gas. I was only concerned about the washer. The guy said the machine ran so that was that. He was just moving into the place and the former resident(s) left it behind. Anyway, I have been blessed with this machine. I would like to take the tub out just to see what shape the center post is actually in. for now, I’ll leave it alone, though. I don’t know how to work on these machines and would gladly pay somebody to recondition it when it needs it.

@@patcola7335 "The guys said it ran so that was that." Yeah I'd say so! Heck, it runs at least as well as my aunt's did in the early 2000's, before it started developing major problems. I'd be willing to bet yours had some significant work done on it at least once, because it really seems to me like it may have been rebuilt before.

@@rynerobinson903 I would say it probably was because of the sticker on the machine. This must’ve been a little while back because there is no area code on the numbers given. I think it might’ve been rebuilt also . It’s a shame the couple moving in didn’t keep the washer, but then I wouldn’t have been fortunate and blessed of God to have gotten ahold of it. The harder thing now would be trying to get older agitators for this . I would love to get the agitator that they used just before they switched to this double duty. There was a white super Surgilator agitator that had the extended fins on the bottom but also had the fins flaring out at the top also. The regular super Surgilator had the extended fins but the vanes tapered in toward the top of the barrel.

I completely agree. Whirlpool was definitely a laundry juggernaut. Please see my request on the GE filter-flo that you did. Thank you. I just want to hear it for all the memories.

The cavitation is so powerful it causes the tub to jerk!!!
@patcola73353 ай бұрын
@@vanni9283 When this kicks into agitation the machine nearly knocks the drain hose out of the standpipe. I also believe what factors into that also is that this machine is also a hanging suspension.

These super-capacity WP belt-drives were rated (at introduction around 1967) to handle 18 lbs ... of cotton/heavy fabrics, not 18 lbs of nylons, LOL. Weigh-out 18lbs of jeans and such, show what the machine can do with it.
@patcola73353 ай бұрын
@@DADoESofTX I know one thing it will do with it and that is handle it better than a direct drive. I like both types of machines but the wash action of the belt drive just wins hands down. You've also got all that lateral movement going on with a belt drive.

God has truly blessed you with this washer. I wonder how big Whirlpool's plant was compared to GE's washer building at Appliance Park which was building 1. I'm sure Whirlpool used all kinds of computer technology to research the LEAP platform. Please correct me.

@@jeromedavis8575 IDK about that Jerome. GE and Whirlpool both were huge appliance makers in their day.

@@patcola7335 Please enlighten me. Whirlpool was the first to use the fast stroke of agitation with their dual action agitator. I'd like to know how big Whirlpool was compared to GE. I thought GE was #2. This was especially true that Whirlpool gobbled up Maytag back in 2006.

It really caused a whirlpool in the tub during agitation.
