Absolutely GREAT advice to your viewers at 4:50 to purchase OPENED copies and to be very careful about buying any sealed Classic Records titles, especially at 200 grams. This is not in my interest, as I have kept many of my Classic titles (including the Zeppelin 33 rpm titles and Peter Gabriel 45 rpm titles) sealed because of the value on the secondary market. But, to be honest, I would not buy them sealed. I purchased about 100 Classic Records titles new at the time, and pressing quality was incredibly inconsistent - I would say 20% were warped or scratched in some manner. I have discovered that most of the warps can be fixed with a vinyl flattener, but a couple of my best Classic titles look like they were sandpapered.

A few years ago I bought all the Peter Gabriel reissues from Classic but there seemed to be quality control issues as some of the vinyl wasn’t perfectly flat and there were also clicks and surface noise so initially I wasn’t impressed with them. I’ve since bought Classic’s Kind of Blue and Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me and they are stunningly good. On Led Zep, my 1972 repress of Led Zep 1 sounds amazing, better than the Jimmy Page remaster in my opinion.

The Classic Records pressing i have are Hank Mobley Soul Station, Hank Mobley Roll Call, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington Playing Together for the First Time, Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy and In Through the Out Door, Neil Young Live at Massey Hall. I bought all those in 2014 and 2015 when prices were way more affordable. Wish i could afford the AP UQHR Jethro Tull Aqualung.

Finally Classic! I, too, am obsessed with this label. Wonderful overview. Thanks for the hello. I still have to find a decently priced copy of that Jutta/Zoot to re-up my BN80 copy. Happy weekend, M.

Kind of amazing the albums that this company was able to reproduce. Hopefully someone will send me a million dollars so I could go after these. I would love to hear what these would d like. Jethro Tull is a favorite but I bet CSNY would sound incredible. Always fun to see vinyl treasures. Steve

Once again a very interesting video. I think for me Classic Records built the audiophile vinyl industry. Yes MOFI came first but by the time Classic started they were having serious problems. Classic showed the way with amazing titles and brilliant mastering. AP, MOFI etc really followed them. It was a sad day when they got into trouble and went under. I was lucky that I was buying these in the early 2000s at $24.99 each and this was when there was a 2 to 1 exchange rate between the dollar and pound so I was picking them up for around £15 plus postage - what times! I have over 150 titles mainly rock/pop and jazz including all the Zep and Who (but not the roadcase I foolishly put it back because it was £700🤪). I don’t rate their Classical titles so much the AP Living Stereos are better. Look forward to what else you are going to show.

I think if someone offers it again for 700 you will go into it :-)

Thanks so much for this review. I have most of the items you showed and fully agree with your comments about Classic Records. I do have a question. Where did you find you "double" sleeves for gatefold vinyl? Best regards, Scott

The color difference between the two Jutta Hipp is really strange ! The story of Jutta Hipp is so interresting... same goes for Tina Brooks I assume.

Great video can you please share your thoughts on two questions. Do you know if AP owns the classic equipment or just the name? I was looking at picking up a sealed Classic 200 gm Queix Neil Young greatest hits that comes with the 7” red, white or blue from 2005 do you know if these are prone to the surface noise issue that you mentioned?
@Michael45RPM4 жыл бұрын
I am quite sure they bought the equipment. I am also still on the hunt for the Neil Young Greatest Hits and in this case i would risk it with an sealed copy as i have heard nothing about problems with this release

I just placed my order for Jethro Tull from AP.....it’s already for sale on acoustic sounds Michael.

Yes its out mid October, just ordered mine.. cant wait to listen to it :-) thx for the Info Cesar

Ordered as well. From what I am reading the AP may actually be a repressing of the Classic 45 done by CB.

I hope to own a Classic release one day. Maybe Chad Kassem may revive the label again one day. One can live in hope !

There are 2 from 2019 but those are living Stereos e.r. classic. You can get some Classic recordings over at Discogs for around 40$ so not soooo expensive if you want to try out the label
