I was at a department store in Anderson South Carolina in 1974. I saw a Remington 1100 and my mouth started watering. I kept going back to the cage to look at it. I was using an old double barrel Rossi for bird hunting. My wife followed me back to the sports counter and saw what I was looking at she said, and I quote you will not buy that shotgun. I said and I quote I’ll have that damn shotgun before I leave here. I wrote a check that I could not afford to do and took it home with me. I have killed literally hundreds of dove and quail over the years with that gun. I still have the gun, but I have a different wife. Steve C.

My wife bought me a Remington 1100 for my Christmas present our 1st Christmas together back in 1974. Hunted with it for several years. Only things that I did was change out the beautiful wooden stock and forearm for synthetic. Didn't want to Mar up the wooden one and bought a vented rib Rem choke barrel. Still have it. Bought a Remington 1100 20 ga several years ago and finally bought a 28 ga 1100. Still have All of them

Nice shotgun for sure. I have 5 Browning Auto 5s with two being Sweet 16s one of those new in box. All are Belguim made and in very near mint condition. They are all locked away in a Bank Vault. I have 3 Rem 1100s 1 12ga 1 16ga and then a 20 ga. These are my shooting guns. Great video there ol boy.

Nice piece and a nice range finder. As you could see in my video I kind of have to guess a rough estimate of how far my shooting distance is by counting my paces which gives me a rough idea but it can vary by up to 5 feet hence I’m not sure if I was 15 yards or closer to 50 feet away from the cantaloupe.. With that mini pond in the way I had to count my paces indirectly off to the side of it so it was about 23 paces which is somewhere between 15 and 18 yards for sure

That's what I did for years brother. Got tired of it so I bought me a good but affordable rangefinder lol. That and some haters in the comments doubted my target distances, so now they can't say crap...

Nice little video. I'll have go back and watch the one you did on the 20 ga. I got one of those 20 ga. lightweights sitting in the gun case. Could the difference in felt recoil be due to gas operated vs. blow back operation?
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
Actually you're right. I never even thought about it- I just assumed the Browning was gas (seeing as how it's 2 grand lol). But at second look, they state "softest shooting RECOIL-OPERATED." Good catch. So, yes, absolutely that's why, and maybe the 1100 weighs half a pound more to soften the recoil further...

The 1100 is gas operated and the A5 is recoil operated.

I definitely thought it would stay tighter together especially with that longer Barrel at 20 yards.
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
In my experience, with the choke that was installed it was a pretty decent pattern compared to other shotguns. Had no problems busting the 50 yard clays in the video...

@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as it's not a full or extra full choke.
@gabel.5269 Жыл бұрын
Depends on how old the barrel is. If you have removable chokes, get a steel rated choke.
