For the price-point, and the fact that this is supposed to be an exotic of sorts, AC had little to no excuse why they did not use the GT500 Mustang engine; 760 horsepower, hand-built, and available in Ford's Motorsports catalog. The Coyote is a fantastic engine, and produces incredible power when supercharged, but using it in this car is along the lines of what one would put in a standard kit car. The GT500 Predator engine is a production-car engine, albeit fairly exclusive, and more fitting for an anniversary edition of the iconic Cobra.

Hi, I met the owner of the company and he explained the choices that were made about the engine. The normal engine is much less expensive and much easier to calibrate, and with the lightweight body, the AC Cobra will still be blisteringly fast.

@@morten_hannesbo I think the Coyote 5.0 is a great engine, and with supercharging makes it even greater. The Predator 5.2 as found in the GT500 Mustang (a $100k exotic car in its own right) is the most powerful production engine Ford has ever made. It would seem to be a natural choice for a car from an iconic manufacturer like AC when they are making an iconic model like this GT. Funny enough, there is a company in the US that is making its own Shelby authorized (a big deal for to be authorized by the Shelby company as an authorized manufacturer of the Shelby Cobra) limited run car. They are going to make the body in carbon fiber, blah, blah, blah, and charge $1.2M USD for one of their 10 cars. They, too, are using a Coyote with a supercharger rather than the GT500 engine, so I guess AC is in good company hot-rodding a regular Mustang 5.0 engine, lol. However, that being said, I would absolutely LOVE to be able to own one of these AC beauties, or even just get a ride in one!

Possibly because the GT500 Mustang engine isn't euro6 or 7 compliant, therefore restricting the vehicles markets. Ford Mustang GT500's aren't sold in Europe.

Looks fabulous, only thing missing is the side pipes . As this was the proto type l am hopefully guessing that they were actually hidden due 2 some subtle changes 2 there design
