Spot on with the symptoms you explained! I recently had an MRI & x-ray of my left hip and my orthopedic surgeon confirmed I have moderate arthritis, hip bursitis and mild tendinosis. My chiropractor mid-diagnosed it as piriformis syndrome. Now that I have it confirmed what I have I’m better able to choose the correct stretching and strengthening exercises as well as other protocols to improve my condition and stave off hip surgery as long as possible. At its worse I couldn’t do a single leg-lift. It’s been 3 months since I developed hip paining (right around when I turned 60) and I can now walk 1.5 miles at a 3.1 mph pace. But no steep hills anymore for me. I continue to improve each week. In case this helps anyone I want to share what I’ve done or will be doing: I opted out of the steroid shot, but will consider PRP. I’ll also be doing 6 weeks with a physical therapist. I had 7 dry needling treatments, 3 shock-wave therapy treatments, and will take some anti-inflammatory supplements (Vit E, collagen, chondroitin, omega-3 and curcumin. I’m avoiding steps as much as I can. I plan to eat low carb to further reduce inflammation, and keep walking and doing stretching and strengthening exercises. Losing excess pounds will help my joints as well. I thank you and the other physical therapists who post to KZbin to offer help to those of us suffering with arthritis. It is much appreciated. Thank you.

Im convinced sitting brings this on. I got ALL of this after sitting on my butt for all of 2020. I'm working thru it by standing up 10 min on the hour and walking full stride for 20 step every Two hours. I get as sore as I use to from lifting weights doing this ! So I recover the next day after some good sleep and the I go again. Glucosamine and Collagen supps are crucial. I don't hit it again unless my body "says" yes. - the key is increasing volume incrementally. - I also do ALL of the exercises that you posted in your link.. If I overdo it by grocery shopping or any activity like that. I'm fragged for 3 days & up to a week - As long as I dont over do it. I find myself healing and improving rage of motion - No way am I getting surgery. Great presentation, As Always Mr. Marquis - thank you Sir.

Hi Paul i'm a chartered physiotherapist (UK). Just interested with you using the term 'wear and tear'. Generally we are advised to not use this with patients as they may interpret it as the more you use it the worse it will get hence they become reluctant to exercise. When i'm sure you would agree whilst arthritis does progress with age it's not because you are necessarily using the hip more. Many thanks!

Hi Jake, thanks for the feedback. I make it pretty clear when patients present like this, that I cannot change the morphology of the joint but...I and you (the patient) can influence the surrounding structures and that some can decrease pain and increase function with a good PT program. Best, Paul

@@OrthoEvalPalI think he’s just debating patient psychology rather than taking issue with practice. Our culture around health and medicine is going to be different in all kinds of ways.

How to distinguish hip problems from low back pain?
@ldesnickАй бұрын
Can hip arthritis cause lack of reflection and pain in the knee? I had a hip replacement in my left hip 17 years ago and doing fine Now my right knee is extremely painful when I bend it back. After seeing your video, my right hip definitely has OA. Would a hip replacement fix my knee issue. I can’t put my sock on on my right foot.

What is when hip is doing noise crack. When you move
@OrthoEvalPal6 күн бұрын
Noise in a joint is not uncommon. Noise with distinct pain is more worrisome.
