One tip I think ? If your making some of Cheryl’s dishes. Play the video like someone watching over you. Watching these videos has given me a little confidence to even try !! Thank you Cheryl

This is exactly how people have always learned to cook. First, you watch Mom / Nana / Chef do it, then they watch you repeat it. After that, it is practice makes perfect time. Good luck, and a Happy cooking!

I became a good cook after having a girlfriend who was a chef and I refused to allow her to cook because she was doing it all week at the restaurant. And she loved it, never knowing how my attempts were going to turn out. And she did "appreciate" it!!!!

Oven at 425 for ten minutes then lower heat to 375 for 15 mins no peeking if you make the batter up the day before they never fail the batter has to be room temp now be very careful full opening the stove door as they are so light they will fly out the window try this recipe cheers

I love cooking......when my children were little they thought it was a super duper treat to get fish fingers as everything else was home made :) Makes me laugh thinking about it!!!!! My daughter has grown up making homemade stuff and my son Steven cooks and also bakes. He actually made his girlfriends family their birthday cakes.......Good on you son, you did listen to me after all :()

I’m forever grateful to my mom who taught me to only cook home cooked meals. I’ve raised my kids this way as well. They hate prepared/frozen foods. They hate frozen dinners and can’t stand most of the kids microwave snacks (pizza rolls, hot pockets etc). Now I just watch cooking shows for dinner ideas! I can’t wait to try some of these recipes! Thank you so much for your videos!!

Hello from Michigan, USA. I just found you here a few weeks ago. I have made a few of your recipes. They were good. I made individual Cottage Pies and froze all but one, which I ate that night. Husband doesn't like them. He can be a picky eater. I like your recipe better than the one I have been using. Also the beef stew with orange marmalade. My paternal grandfather, born in 1900, was from Aberdeenshire, and came over with his family in 1906. I am glad that I found a Scottish woman who cooks real recipes the true way. I also love your accent. Your weekly shopping got me to go back to using Aldi. I do have to look up and convert grams, Celsius and mark 5. My maternal grandmother was from Canada, so I have no problems with your way of speaking. I know that tea time is our supper, you sit on the Chesterfield instead of a couch, running shoes are tennis shoes, etc. Keep up the great show.

You are a very good ‘home cooking ‘ chef. I see others on here who haven’t got the faintest idea of the concept of making ‘good’ pastry. Basically, it’s the opposite of bread making. That’s a good rule of thumb. Everything cold, as little touch as possible,, and not at all wet. You’ve nailed it!! Well done!!! Looks gorgeous xxx

When I was a kid in Paisley in the 50's, we used to order an ashet pie from the local butchers for Hogmanay. From what I remember, it also icluded chipolata links, but am I mistaken? It was delicious and was served in the afternoon of Xmas day, as that wasn't a public holiday in Scotland, so the men went to work and knocked off at midday.Hogmanay was our holiday, but not in England.

Love the pie dish. Hardly see these now. I have a complete set of graduated sizes, which I inherited from my dear mother. Being on my own, I don’t have much cause for using them and cooking larger amounts of things, much to my regret, but I did use the third size up recently for a Tuna and Vege pie, topped with mashed potato. I don’t often enjoy my food very much these days, but it was reasonably nice (and lasted me for quite a few meals) anyway.

If you subtract most of that water for an egg yolk and a tablespoon of white vinegar and a tablespoon of milk youll end up with a richer tastier pastry.......also the white vinegar and egg yolk helps keeps the pastry from toughening up.........i know this recipe is for simplicity sake, which is great..... but for people who just want a richer pastry........for me who works pastry a lot, i think pastry can be the best part if done right....👍🏻🇬🇧👍🏻

I always put the flour in a plastic freezer bag and then chuck in the meat and shake it up until the flour has covered the meat. It is a lot easier, I find.
