13:15 - 13:40 is worth every penny. nowhere on the gol-durned innertubes have i found the right way to do this. I nearly pulled my groin trying to separate the top from bottom. Now I know what to do to save my special area AND my seat bottom as I reassemble the seat. Thank you good sir, Stay gold.

No we did the savanna beige for sure. The interior was a vintage custom, burgundy two tone with beige tweed cloth insert.

Interesting to see how to pull the covers over the seat frames. My question (maybe a good topic for future video) is how to repair, reinforce seat springs. My 1967 beetle's driver side lower seat sags a bit on the right side (from use by right leg) and needs to be fixed. Any suggestions about how to accomplish this?

I used pipe 1" pipe foam insulation. I don't think anyone makes them.

Chris Is there anyway to recline the front high back seats on a 1970 beetle? I am 6' and it is kinda close to the steering wheel.

Yes there is a knob down the side on the seat that should bring it back a little, there are 3 positions, but it is not much.

How about the rubber/urethane bumpers that the seat back hits when positioned back (driving position). There was at some point, some bump stops affixed down low on the bottom seat frame (one on each side of the seat). When the seat back is moved back into driving position, the frame on the seat back stops on these bump stops. I’ve been seeking information about these bump stops. Where can I buy them to replace my originals that are all but gone.

How do you make sure the seams on the seat line up when you put the back rest onto the bottom part of the seat?

If you have a paint can lid popper, you can get under the lip inside and give it a pull. Or you can take 2 flat screwdrivers, slip under the knob and pry it up.

No need, when you order the new material and foam, you can use the boxes they came in, just cut them to size.

Hey Chris, am from the Philippines my son got this 67 bug and we want to restore it correctly. is this a savanna beige 67 and its interior we intend to copy yours but we came to a website for true colors we got confused as when we looked at its interiors specs the red does not go with the savanna please help or is yours a lotus white

Anyone know how to repair the flip up lever on the side of the seat on a 75 beetle. Lever moves, I can see the cable moving the mechanical lock on the right side, but left side is not moving as much. I have the back of the seat removed from the base. And that's where I am at now. Not sure about the internals of the seat.

Hi Chris! I need a little advise. Twelve years ago, my dad made being installed a side mirror to my 69 bug's passenger door (when it still was his). However, it has the hole on the door but the inner nut isn't welded to the door itself, so occasionally the nut needs to be adjusted and for that I have to dismount most of the door's components to do so. Any suggestions on how weld this problematic nut? Thanks bud!

JB Weld the nut next time you are in there. It's a super strong glue.

Our frame is rusted out completely is there a place where I can get remanufactuered frames for the front seats and bench for my 74 super?

if you want original, you would have to source them online from say thesamba.com. Or they do sell aftermarket frames, but they do not look like the originals.

Yea anything before 67 should work, back till 56. But stay 65-67 for that.
