Chris, Thanks for the tips to clear the tube. Thanks again for the other video to fix heater box. I haven't had heat in years. Went under the car and found the two broken cables. With some baling wire I rigged the levers in the open position - yes car became toasty. Now a few questions as I wait for some parts to arrive. 1974 beetle 1. Is there two tubes and two cables? Or does the cable have two ends and share a tube?. 2. I have the two levers in the cockpit (yellow knobs) which I removed and cant recall which side (driver / passenger side) does what? 3. I had a small grill on the floor by driver / passenger foot area - do these grills also get cabled? 4. At the rear seat kick panels (left & right) there is a hole - in it is a butterfly flap that allows heat into the rear foot area - use my finger to fix open/closed. A. One of the flaps is missing - can I purchase? - what’s the part called? B. Are these supposed to be controlled somehow? Thanks again for the videos. Really helping me - been driving around town - fun.

My heater cable is stuck in the tube and I have no access to the tip to pull it out. How can I get the old cable out to install a new one?

If you cut the top off, won’t the cable unravel?

One additional option which worked with my Bug (while the other ones did not really work out), pre-heat the rear-end of the tube during 10 min with a hair dryer; and then it was possible to insert the tube up to the end ...

Hey Chris great video, both you and the Bentley manual say the Star shaped heater control knob near the shifter (64 bug) needs just a punch to the pin to remove the knob. I feel like I have to hammer way too hard and nothing is happening? Does the knob need to be in a certain position or does the collar below need to be loose? Why is the pin not budging? Pins is for example the window crank pop right out, why not the heater knob too?

It could be rusted bad in there, and frozen. We have seen it.
