I know i'm way late but doing a fresh HC server rn. If you go orc warlock, I suggest first going 1 point into improved corruption, 2 points into suppression, then x5 cataclysm > x5 bane x1 soul burn x2 improved firebolt > x3 improved imp. Improved firebolt is NUTS especially as orc with that 5% more pet damage. yes he goes oom, but that's sooner his 5 sec rule starts over. Make sure you pull him back when he ooms out, let him get to at least over 50% to start shootting again.

SL builds are also really good. 31 in demo and 20 aff is really good for when you have kinda meh gear and just prioritize stamina. You get 30% +10% reduction vs melee with a voidwalker, amplify curse is solid as a burst cooldown. The dots actually still rot down anything but geared healers even with just 20 points in affliction. And you can sacrifice your voidy for over 2k absorbs that stop cast pushback, then you get to summon another one with a 0.5sec cast and no mana cost if you pop your CD. This spec is really good when you get opened on by anything. It is so versatile with loads of resources to outlast opponents. If a caster attacks you, just sac the voidy and resummon a doggo instead. With this spec it gives you 60 resist in all schools of magic, and is obviously op with the spell lock and dispel. Another variation is to just pick 5 points in aff for imp corruption, and go for 15 points in destro instead to pick up faster destro casts, shadowburn, and the crit. This spec gets more valuable as you get your hands on PvP/raid gear that has the oh so important stamina values AND spell damage. The PvP set is especially good since it also reduces immolate cast time. These SL specs have one major weakness in PvP though. Well geared healers. If you get jumped by a group that has a healer, the destro spec has better odds if it just crits with anything at all during cc chains. The SL spec will just get outhealed in such a scenario. Although I think the SL build is far more OP against multiple dps and in duels.

And when it comes to "is this spec boring", no. Not for leveling, not for PvP. While leveling you get to do this really interesting balance of aggro, where you pull one mob with just light dots and leave it to your void walker. This requires some aggro management skills to not rip aggro off the demon. Then you go full ham with dots on another mob, and wand it down. If your health looks to fall below 80% you can drain tank this mob since you usually go for the push back resist on drains. If a 3rd mob is about to aggro too soon to ruin your day, you fear that one and dot it up. If you have no room to fear safely, you can just take it to you for face tanking. When things go wrong, or you go yolo with a big AoE pull, that's where it becomes interesting. You can sacrifice your voidy for the big shield that immunes you to cast push back while you hellfire already dotted up mobs. This just makes me feel like a fkn god when the warrior next to me is struggling to 1v1 the same mobs. It's really cool as a strategy since you cover the 2 biggest weaknesses of hellfire, which are taking heavy damage and getting cast pushbacks. The hellfire dmg still goes to your hp pool which is perfect to save the bubble. And when 1v1 against any elite mob, this sacrifice allows you to drain life so you get to full hp easily. And on a 15min CD you get to summon another voidy back in 0.5seconds. This is useful when you overestimate your damage and end up with mobs that have too much health left. Then you panic summon another VW to soak 30+10% of the melee dmg while you recast corruptions before another sacrifice (if needed).

26-5-21. I call this a destro build, bcs the affli is only there to support my destruction. ;) In affli, instead of improved curse of agony I go 3 into Improved Drain Life. 1vX PvP is all about sustain. And I believe, that Drain Life will bring more value than 6% more dmg on one spell. (especially cuz curse of agony has increasing dmg over 24 sec. The target might die b4 it's even mana efficient.) I went for Curse of Exhaustion and 3 in Improved Curse of Exhaustion bcs it's very good against melee and we have no shadowfury, demonic circle. (Lets be honest, how else will we kill a warrior?) In Demo 5 in Demonic Embrace. Took out the +20% heal from helthstone but I think curse of exhaustion is more useful for rogues, enhancement shamans, warriors, druids, etc. and so, necessary. I will try it out and if 25% slow isn't enough I'm going to take out 1 point from demo and put it into improved curse of exhaustion for 30% slow. In Destro I didn't go for Aftermath, instead I went for 2 in searing pain. Overall if you think about it, daze is a slow. But aftermath only has max 10% chance. And that's very incostistent. I don't want to pray while I'm pvping. I want to hold everything in my hands. And so curse of exhaustion does the same, although it takes at least 4 points for 25% slow, I'd say it's more valuable. Healthstone is important. But I went for heal in both siphon life and 3 in Improved Drain Life. And that's consistent. And if you check it, Major Healtstone heals for 1200. So the talent is 240. With a 2 minute cooldown. I am missing conflagrate but I still think this build is the best, due to nightfall, siphon life, curse of exhaustion, Improved Life Tap, Improved Drain Soul.. Destro without these just feels limited. And that conflagrate doesn't change that. Especially cuz it takes off immolate and doesn't even slow. This makes it situational. Bcs it's only worth using it once immolate is at it's end. Bcs immolate is doing more dmg throughout it's duration. That makes it so that you either use it then for DMG output or when you are kiting and the only option for surviving is to use it. The reason I went for 2 in searing pain is that it's still our filler. And +2% crit chance in a lot of cases, matters. I don't want to rely on it, but I'm not denying it. I'm also thinking about going 0 in demo and putting 5 in affli for +10% shadow dmg as that increases shadow bolt dmg, dot dmg, Shadowfury, and our heal from siphon life and drain life. Which means, that eventho +15% stamina is tankier, if good enough sustain is possible, lower health with increased sustain can be better. But ofc we gotta see how it will go first. Cya in game. I disagree about the affliction tree levelling. Improved curse of agony is not worth it, whereas fel concentration and improved drain soul are. I personally level demo to 30, with improved voidwalker and then respec to affliction. I don’t think anything in affliction helps you out that early. Once you reach 30 and have received rank 2 drain life and siphon, respec to affliction. I mostly use succubus from then on and have her tank one with light dots, i drain tank another and i fear a third with dots. Push, push, push, use cannibalize liberally. Once you get Dark Pact, it gets even stronger.

Despite doing drain tanking, I don’t pick up improved drain life. Not losing as many casts is more important than doing more damage with them. You are mainly sustaining yourself and fishing for nightfall. Opting out of Grim Reach to, ahem, reach improved curse of agony is also an option.

As for pvp, i will likely go something along the likes of soul link + nightfall or an instant cast-spam with Conflagration+nightfall. I don’t know what private server people do, but i got grand Marshall in actual factual vanilla as Soul link pre-talent revamp. My horde warlock only reached rank 5, but is more relevant due to being horde.

I am no Cobrak but the Soul link/afflic "Hybrid" is a high survivability spec that lends itself well to surviving ganks and leveling at the exact same time since you have all the instant dots, VW for tanking with imp VW, as well as the use of 2 sacrifices.

SL/DS is of rela interest to me. i don't really know why, but the idea of using demons as a constant sacrifice source just seems so valuable. get ganked? sac vw, near-instant summon succubus, DS for 15% extra shadow damage on top of 10% from the affliction tree? sounds OP to me

Levelled warlock to 60 a couple times on pserver and decided to try out Dive's drain tank build. I have never been as unstoppable in classic as I have while doing drain tank. You never go oom, you never go out of health, you never drink, and you *profit* health and mana by killing mobs 1 on 1 after you hit 38. The Voidwalker meta is just inferior as far as I am concerned, at this point /watch?v=KEZtEv3jSVM if you're interested

I level in a 3 man party(me, a pali, and a druid) and I find most of affliction kinda worthless. Yeah supression, improved corruption and mana tap are great.. then nothing. Most mobs die to fast for curses anyways. Even in dungeons you cant really dot up too many. I'm leveling just fine(in this party) as a destro lock. Haven't even used blueberry once! :)

I don't understand why you want to use a point in Dark Pact in your Affliction spec. I don't see "stealing" your summons mana instead of sticking to Lifetap that you already used two points to improve.

Had a quick look over it, seems he left out the most important levelling build. Once you get your shadow weave set you are now levelling by tanking. Go down to siphon life and go 5/5 drain life and fel concentration, imp life tap which is standard and pick up nightfall cos thats going to be proccing a lot and grim reach ofc. Put the rest down into demonology, you can go imp succy if you want for increased dps and so you have charm ready if you need it. Of course still having voidy out is always good especially for sacrifice incase of oh shit moments. You level by just derping your way into groups and drainlife tanking everything, you don't die. With all that +dmg on your shadow weave set you're healing yourself like a mofo, mobs drop like they getting bursted down and when NF procs its gg.

I know i'm coming in with some more classic warlock experience than you had at the point of this video; Void walker leveling is complete trash and I am never using it again. I'm currently 35 on my second warlock that I'm leveling just to learn the class even better and to really remaster the leveling process of old azeroth. In this the proccess and by hearing staysafe out, I've gotten to the conclusion that imp or succubus. I've used the imp now from level 2 - 35. It is still delivering mad damage with 3 points in improved imp. Siphon life is a huge waste of mana, especially if you're killing the mobs correctly (according to the way of the imp). If I compare this to what I'm seeing in the first build you showed here, I just want to let you know that the imp is fucking busted and you should pick up fel-dom & amplify curse and then pursue which ever way your heart takes you. There is actually a stupid OP thing about demonic sacrifice due to spell-batching; you can /castsequence reset=10 demonic sacrifice, Sacrifice(Rank 6) > Void shield + fel stamina buff. improved drain soul is actually better than improved drain life FOR LEVELING. I will play Shadow mastery/Ruin build for sure :) Dotz and big insta crits

Imp drain soul is absurdly frustrating to play around. You need to get a kill on the mob WITH THE DRAIN SOUL TICK to proc It, and when it does, you lose out on an mp5 due to casting a spell so you get far less mana than you expect. It is nowhere near spirit tap (being able to wand and have mp5 active when it procs), and extremely overrated. Points in the drain tank talents proved far more valuable when leveling especially when drain life begins to do more dps than wanding does.

You go Dark Pact, with Improved Imp, wich means your pet gonna go OOM after about 5 seconds and there is no mana to drain with Dark Pact. Where is the logic?

Great to see how not to have talents for leveling up. Putting 4 points into imp drain life but nothing in fel dom is ridiculous. The argumentation of having either the VW or a good tank anyway is a half-truth as you normally only want to do the occasional one (like once for every instance, with a few exceptions) and otherwise the succubus is just that much more efficient. Drain tanking is the way to go, but to each his own.

2 points in impr. Corruption bc of the GCD. Void will gain aggro so 5/5 in Fel Conc. is mandatory. Impr DL is just bad esp. without Fel Conc. Of. Ourse 0 points in Destro, all into impr. Voidwalker. A very very bad guide, seriously!
