My mom used to make something similar to this, but instead of pistachio pudding mix she used lime and instead of cool whip she used cottage cheese, also no marshmallows. I think it was a bit of an acquired taste lol, because a lot of people hate cottage cheese, but for those people I say to put the cottage cheese in a blender first and blend until smooth first, because it’s the texture people don’t like about cottage cheese.

I love WATERGATE SALAD. It does get creamier next day if you can stand to wait that long. It’s a light refreshing dessert perfect for summer. Being from DC the recipe does add maraschino cherries. I don’t like them anymore so my recipe mimics yours. @@mamaTspeaks I have family in Georgia my parents both lived in Georgia but they are now deceased they are buried in the Marietta area we lived in the Kennesaw Georgia area, I am back in Ohio where we are originally from. I like Georgia but it was just so hot, oh my goodness but I like GA. they said when you are used to something there's no place like home. but while I live there it was nice, it was but I also was ready to go back to Ohio because those people in Georgia they drive crazy in Atlanta area is so crowded people was coming from everywhere to live in the Atlanta area

Oh man I bet I haven't eaten this since the early 80s. For the last part of the 70s this was at every family cook out. It was delicious except my grandma used walnuts instead of pecans because walnuts were free and pecans were expensive. I'm sure I would like the pecans a lot more.

This is a tasty salad. I think its considered a salad because its green and has pineapple, so that's close enough.
