My mom and Dad would shell pecans for days on end. Mom would start making pies in October and freeze them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would give as gifts to family. She also made Chocolate pecan pies and sweet Tatar pies. Such fond memories. Mom passed at 94 her mind was clear as a bell, I had the Blessing to look after her till she went to meet Jesus and see Dad again. Love your videos and recipes.Take care God Bless 😊

By the way, you mentioned not having dark Karo... You did have the brown sugar in it, which is the only missing difference between the light Karo and dark Karo syrup. It sounds marvelous. Next grocery trip, I'm going to buy the ingredients to make it! My hubby and I used to watch Fred Sanford (Sanford and Son - Redd Foxx) when we were young, then the re-runs. Back when sitcoms were funny and not so dirty. I enjoyed watching yours and your hubby's exchange. I'm so sorry that I clicked on this. My weakness is a great Pecan Pie. I liked to believe it was more difficult. The last thing I need to know is how to make my favorite pie of all time. I'm already Rubenesque, so the last thing I need is an easy recipe for my absolute favorite pie. Then again, you only live once and if that includes my favorite pie of all time, then I can make it up somewhere else. Thanks much, Mama T! Sometimes, when watching folks like you, I really miss the south. Honest food in the simplest way, mixed with love and faith (although not my faith, but I do feel it from you so I'm glad to participate!) THAT is what community and love is about. Good food and communion in what ever way communion means to you as long as it includes your community for all of the beautiful beings they are. It's the one thing I miss from the south ... but I'm from TX where that doesn't exist. Had to travel east ... Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, the Carolinas, Appalachia is totally fascinating and we can learn a lot there, but you have to go deep for the best education. Thanks for the recipe. I will try it, though I shouldn't because I'd eat it every day. Then again, life is about experiencing joy, so if that brings me joy, why can't I have a reasonable bit every day? Now, I'm going to have to make it after all of the years I refused to learn.

MaMa T we all are learning from each other....the last few years info in rolling in like I have never heard before. You all were talking bout the bread.....Good grief, there are so many flours that I have never heard of....BUT they say, we should eat a sour dough bread when we indulge! As you know its a fermented type that is easier on our gut! I have been fermenting so many veggies that are so FULL of probiotics and who knew, so much easier than canning! One of my favorite snacks are the fermented carrot sticks! And if you like Salsa, WOW the best I have ever eaten is fermented!! God bless you both and even though the holidays are approaching, WATCH that sugar!! It does terrible things to us!
