MVP awards are like the Oscars, the most deserving rarely ever win. It's all about politics. I don't look at MVP's as serious awards for that reason. The league ignored Jordan and focused on Magic and Bird because they were bringing in the most money at the time. When it looked like Jordan was becoming the face of the league, that's when they decided to give him MVP's. It's all politics.

Real easy lane to the basket. When you know that you might end up with an injury, those wide open lanes aren't as straight forward a decision as they first appear.

Joshua James - this was the year they won for the first time and before the championship, MJ and the Bulls had something to prove. No scoring title winner had won a championship income early days of Kareem 20 years earlier. The media questioned if a scorer like him could win it all and so he had the Bulls made sacrifices to win that first title. No drinking, no partying etc. They had also been physically beat up by this Championship Bad Boys team for the past two years in the ECF and they had something to prove. So winning the MVP was incredibly gratifying to a guy that had been incredible from his very first day but was on a terrible team early on - and he was desperate to prove that not only was e as great as Magic and Bird but that he was better - not only as an individual player but as a leader that could create a dynasty like they did - with significantly less help than they had. Definitely an emotional moment it was.

1991 ECF finals you probably won’t see a team more focused ready for the challenge and confident they’d get the job done. 1990 the Bulls were close but you could still see doubt in the Bulls young and inexperienced supporting cast when things got hard. 91 the Pistons as crazy as it sounds being the 2 time defending champions didn’t stand a chance. The Bulls were ready as hell and MJ played with such poise and control over what his team was doing. Phenomenal stuff this series

MJ was physically stronger in 91, and although he was quick and can get around defenders with ease, it was his perimeter shooting, jumpers, that was his go to weapon against Detroit, notice most of his points this game, as well as games 3-4, mostly were from the outside, jumpers, fade-away in the post(he already had one in 91)

His biggest asset along with his shooting was his ability to find a spot where MJ could always dish to him after breaking down the defense when drawing all the double and triple teams he faced. Paxson was such an awesome streaky shooter - in the '91 playoffs, he was monstrous shooting over 50% and making bucket after bucket in the last two games especially. He obviously made the big shot in the '93 Finals game 6. He had a much bigger impact on the team since he started than lets say Kerr in the second three-peat. But because of Kerr's success as a coach today and his high shooting percentage from point territory, many of today overrate him as some major piece in Chicago. Kerr was actually just a small role player in a backup role.

i watch this game right after a jordan's game from 98. the difference between the two versions of jordan is actually quite obvious. 91 jordan was considered to be in his prime prime and his athleticism was peaking throughout the whole playoff. he was surly much quicker and better at getting around dribbling the ball. 96-98 jordan probably didnt have to do as much in term of dribbling, hence for a slight decay of his dribbling skill.

I know most of you are here for Jordan but I’m giving props to pistons. They were literally one non existent foul on Kareem from a 3 peat. Arguably the best defensive teams of all time and the toughest. They won those two championships in between the lakers and Celtics and bulls so they kinda get lost in the discussion of all time greats. I wish basketball was still like this. Physical.

Not dirty just within the rules at the time which allowed physical play. In, 1991 the NBA changed the rules and the Triangle Offense is what helped the Bulls finally beat a very good Detroit team that made 3 straight Finals and won back to back championships and OH they beat the Bulls in the playoffs 4 straight years too, not bad for a "worst" team as you put it.

Closing minutes of game Pippen block's Vinnie Johnson's 3-point shot, steals the ball runs down the court passes it to MJ who gets fouled for 2. That's what I'm talking about the little things that don't excite people such as the 3-point shot or dunking which they(Bulls) did as well as anybody, but it was that defense and passing between Pippen and Jordan the set them apart from everybody. Shaq would later coin the term in describing them as"Batman & Robin" which he would used himself and Kobe as they won their 3 rings together~!
