To this day I have yet to see a kpop artist give up anything like Fantasy for example. VIXX's sound is the blueprint, not the "standard" in any way.

This is why I love starlights. Even though our fanbase may be a bit on the small side, and even though Vixx can be pretty underrated sometimes, everyone who chooses to stick around and join the fandom can recognize Vixx's unique style, talent, and song production prowess. They like them because they understand that Vixx isn't just mainstream pop and they are actually making really smart, interesting, and complex arrangements that challenge the kpop music industry. Sure, it's not for everyone, but they have a really professional, mature, and serious approach to music that is just so appealing sometimes. And yet, they still find room to have fun with their music every now and then. Thanks for all of the cool comments fellow starlights. Love reading through them and hearing what you guys have to say.

While VIXX always been a little odd compared to a lot of groups, it was with the Conception series they've decided to stretch out from the norm. Dynamite is a catchy dance number with a lot of changes going on in the way it's put together. Fantasy is more symphonic and while the vocals are simple, they also show off such a huge stretch of sound with Ken going from his lowest range to his highest followed by Leo while Ravi does his clear spitfire rap, and then you have N's smooth sound as the anchor while Hyuk and Hongbin do their subtle harmonizing or take a verse here and there. And then there is The Closer which takes pieces of different sounds from the other two songs, shakes them in a blender, add a splash of funk and pours it out over something crunchy. Also still think that they should react to the acoustic version of Dynamite, Chained Up and Error that VIXX did for Starshow 360, or the Dingo live of Shangri-la. Also any of Ken's Duet Songs because his voice has improved so much from the earlier days. It would also be nice to have Leo's solos there but I know that those ones are very hard to find uncut.

I'm LOVING all the VIXX love! Fun fact, the Conception trilogy makes more sense if you watch it backwards (The Closer > Fantasy > Dynamite ). Ken is Zeus, so every video revolves around him, even if he isnt the main focus, and it'll make alot more sense in The Closer. VIXX is extremely underrated, and this trilogy is no exception. VIXX and only VIXX can create a story as deep as this and experiment with every single song. If you ever have time, it would be cool if your friends could watch some of VIXX's acoustic performances. These men seriously eat their own CD.

I love Fantasy for many reasons, mainly because of the classical motive of the descent into the underworld. I love the subtle things they did aesthetically to keep that mythological feel. My favorite object in the whole mv is that big white door, the portal to the underworld, a modern door that feels so authentic to the theme. That door really reminded me of the temples on the acropolis (simple, robust yet elegant). I really suggest watching the drama version of fantasy to observe the scenes more. Every member is also wearing a thorn accessory in the mv, fitted for the character they portray. The god here was Hades (Ravi + thorned crown), ruler of the underworld, the unseen one. Story wise: two rivals descent into the underworld to obtain a love potion from Hades. They have to sacrifice something in order to get that potion (the eye tattoo on the hands may be a proof of the sacrifice). Only one succeeds.

A lot of times, Vixx songs have a lot more in them than people think. It's not like you can just listen to it once and catch everything. Heck, there were things I didn't notice until after listening to a song for the 7th time. And then the instrumental version is a completely different story. But yeah, kind of weird they didn't pick up on the harmonies, because that's what they're known for, at least, that's what I think they're known for. 'XD Hey, +ReacttotheK, when they finally get to see Shangri-La, how about you let them react to the live non-studio version? It might not make for a good video, but it would be interesting to hear their thoughts on it, considering you can really hear all of their vocal harmonies and such in it. It just gives you a different perspective on the song I think.

Yes there were tons of vocal harmonies, but Hugo specifically mentioned ***crunchy*** harmonies, which this piece didn't really have much of. ("Crunchy harmonies" refers to heavily dissonant chords, like most 7th chords, 9th chords, etc. Probably the most famous example in K-pop would be the "eureureong" part in EXO's "Growl".) Even though I love this song, I have to agree with Hugo there; I would REALLY liked to have seen some more vocal dense, dissonant harmonies...

Fantasy is one of those songs where you hear something new every single time you listen to it! That's why I love it. Even the vocal harmonies Hugo would've wanted are there (but they're more obvious in mr removed vids of course). Vixx does layers beautifully and I'm happy they tried for this sound. Doesn't Ken's howling kinda count as a vocal harmony? Also there are some hidden vocals (and those are mostly Hyuk and Hongbin) you won't really notice on a first run trought until you listen the instrumental and go back to the actual version. Of course my musical knowledge is far more limited as u guys, considering I quit being writing music and hearing training ages ago.

it's really interesting that I actually partially agree with Hugo's idea on adding homophonous vocal to reach its "crunchiness", but that is in terms of the song as a piece itself. The way Fantasy is now, can make individual's vocal stand out more (in my opinion). To me Fantasy is a great balance, it's not "k-popy", as least not the typical ones. Every time the chorus drops, it's as if a thrust is sending all six of them to some heavenly place where their voices descend and surround the listeners, which is beyond amazing to Starlights. What Hugo suggests might work the best if the listeners are purely enjoying a piece. If that idea is ever realized, it just makes one more reason to love Fantasy and Vixx. :P
