Kenzie, thinking about getting into pistol competition shooting. I like the Canik Rival S…..how would that compare to the Walther in your personal pick? I wonder if the new Canik TT Combat would be good?

I JUST shot the Canik TTI combat yesterday and enjoyed it. However, you will have to shoot OPEN division in USPSA and Steel challenge, for example if you leave the compensator on it. It also comes off pretty easily, but make sure you know that about that pistol. Same with mag wells, like Carry optics and production divisions, you can't use one but again, super easy to remove. So the difference with the new combat and Rival S is polymer vs. Steel. Steel is going to help with recoil management, but polymer guns aren't difficult to shoot either. The new Walther PDP Match steel frame and polymer frame are also super nice guns, but a lot more pricey. Their stock trigger on the match pistols is unbelievable though. Best stock trigger I've ever seen a company make. It comes down to what feels better to you grip wise, what fits your budget, etc. But both of those manufacturers make accurate and reliable pistols!

Go try it out! The point I tried to make is run what you have. Go try it out and have fun! See if you even like shooting competitions before you go buy a different gun or more gear. I know plenty of people who have competed with carry guns, subguns, compact pistols, etc. And now in USPSA and IDPA you can draw from appendix which is practical practice!

I got the Q5 match (polymer frame) right when it came out. Of course, they come out with steel frame after i bought it. I have flared magwell and 5 round expended mag. Out of the 3 pistols I have, it's by far my favorite. Other 2 are gen 4 glock 17 and fn fnx .45 tactical

Kenzie did really nicely. Liked how she started with the basics, a Gen II G17. I've never owned a Glock, but that's just personal preference. I really like her Rival S. But then both Kenzie and Kaya started dropping used car priced handguns on me. Really nice, but that's a serious pile of Benjamins for a handgun...and I still have to execute!

Cheers from Frankfurt, Germany 🍻. I started 3 years ago with competition shooting (precision 25m) and run a slightly modified G34 Gen5 MOS with a Timney Alpha Trigger, Holosun SCS, MagWell, Talon Grips and Taran BasePlates. So no aftermarket barrel, springs etc. It is a very accurate gun that’s light, has a long barrel, trigger (Timney) is awesome and the grip is very high to the barrel. I personally love the aggressive angle of the frame - works very good for my hand. In the second year I managed place 3 in the national league so that’s a good example that this gun can keep up easy with guns that cost twice of 3,4 times more. I’ll start to shoot IPSC this year and look for a steel frame gun. Gonna be a Canik or a Walther. Walther Q5 Match Black Ribbon OR seems to be a great one but gonna give the PDP a chance too. Love my canik rival s have a minimalist bnbmachine thumbrest which also makes it so slide doesn't lockback on last shot. Great for indexing point to grip the gun same way everytime.

I love the 226 x5 legion but bad choice because you’d have to compete in open and you want a major power factor. While love the Q5SF, the Q4SF points easier and has a b better grip balance. Smith and Wesson is kind of hit or miss. I have done with great triggers and done without. I would have left that one off the list and replaced it with an MPA DS9 I have run a Fire4Effect shadow 2 in CO for years AND THANK YOU!! I love my LTT P30L and will be running in this weekend in a Competition I love my Nighthawks, but my number 1 is my Laugo Alien LO

These suggestions are great, but they don't go over what guns would be best for what division, and what club. Like the CZ Shadow II is a great competition gun, but it can't be used in IDPA unless you lighten it somehow, because it's over the max weight requirement. What about the best competition gun for IDPA BUG division, etc.?

Video seems to be cut short but seems like the Canik cool-aid is strong here lol In what world is a 226X5 second to a canik, or any canik lol. S2s are great too, but they're pretty much the entry level serious all steel da/sa production gun. Once you talk about modifications, it's anyone's ball game like X5L, 92x Competition, 226s, tanfos, but all above typical polymer guns for the weight. See the highly tuned 226s and be amazed at the SRT trigger. 100% resets quicker than a custom 2011. But for pure polymers, 2.0 performance center is great. Glocks, when they're TTI, I guess, otherwise they'd be a gun you can cheaply start with. Probably would've been better and would then mean more vids if each video is divided per division. Carry Optics, Carry Optics Light, Production, maybe even Production DA/SA (could consider out of the box and modified/potential), Open (and include open guns that aren't necessarily 2011 based too).
