Part 1 of 2. Classic Game Room reviews FAST STRIKER for Sega Dreamcast, a 2011 release for the supposedly deceased console that just won't die! Copyright 2010 from NG:DEV.TEAM and made in Germany, Fast Striker is a maniac shooting game with up to 180 bullets on screen. This vertical scrolling SHMUP style spaceship shooter is a slick, refined videogame for the Sega Dreamcast which competes against classics such as Gigawing and Mars Matrix. Of note is the incredible techno style music that has few peers and will keep you playing just to dance. @mattetch12 - you know, I always found the same thing! There is something "special" about owning a Sega console. Even now when I turn on my PS3, it's just another game I'm playing. Every time I turn on my Sega Dreamcast or Sega Saturn (my main 2 Sega consoles that I use these days) it always makes me feel like I'm about to turn on something very very special. Especially the Dreamcast. I LOVE the look of the Dreamcast, I love the VMUs and the controllers... it's a very special machine.

I liked Giga Wing at first and still do like it a little bit, but it gets so annoying cause i am not a prodigy on that game (Giga Wing), just watching some playthroughs of Giga Wing on youtube pisses me the eff off, some players are not human at the game and dodge everything you can imagine....arrrgghhh. Anyway, this game looks much cooler than Giga Wing and looks less frustrating.

@chocolatehoney15 Zero chance is gonna happen. Sega has sold all the Dreamcasts ever been maunfactured, also the refurbished ones (repaired units)... And this game isn't an official Sega release (the last one was Karous). If you want to support the Dreamcast and make Sega aware of it you have to buy the Dreamcast Collection on PS360. Maybe one day will see a Dreamcase re-release by some extern manufacturer like the Genesis today.

@steve5123456789 You can hardly call it nostalgia. I played JSR less than 2 years ago. But hey, I get it. You really don't like the game. You don't like the music, I even bought the OST. I guess tastes differ... Just don't say you know a bad game when you see one because you don't like it. Metacritic gave it a Metascore of 94/100 based on 24 critic reviews, and the game got an equally high user score...

@ChrisGhysel nostalgia is worth nothing if you don't have it, game doesn't hold up well today at all, I know a bad game when I see it this is the most overrated dreamcast game hands down. Don't see why you would want to play that shit when you could play Crazy taxi, sonic, shenmue 2, or soul calibur. O and the music sucks ass as well "the music just turns me on" repeated over and other for the first level.

@ChrisGhysel Worst game ever, most overrated game ever when I played it for about 2 hours, its just so boring ,and has bad graphics, my brothers girlfriend even played it and agreed its shit, and boring. And she likes alot of games. Wish I never bought it now Rayman 2 is a good game. Jet set radio is more overrated than final fantasy not even joking, by the way when was the last time you played it? I played it 2 days ago.

@SOLIDSNAKEXXX360 2D = SNES = Fail is a really dumb comment Anyone with eyes can see the ghaphics are much better, its just like saying all 3D games look like the SNES aswell (SNES was the 1st console to do 3D polygons) The funny thing is that detailed 2D gfx use alot processing power due to all machines been made for 3D graphic. True fact, thePS2 doesnt have the horsepower to play modern Cave 360 shmups Like Ketsui was origally made for the ps2 but abbandoned cos the hardware couldnt cope

@Broyale26 Nope it doesnt. Atleast where shmups (and to a lesser degree any arcade game) are concerned. Shmups are a very niche genre with a small but dedicated fanbase buying games. So devs to tend to all stick to 1 console to stop consumer fragmentation and to maximise profits Likethe 360 is by far THE console for shmups with 95% of all commercial STGs released for it, so was the dreamcast last generation (although the ps2 had some good STGs aswell) So that many fans / collectors have a DC

Believe it or not, Dreamcast will have a new game from a EURO designer in November 2011, Sturmwind it is called, it's an INCREDIBLE looking shmup, Mark must get his hands on it and review it next month, they have a trailer for it. It looks FUCKING INSANE, the graphics are unbelievable and the bosses look fucking crazy. STURMWIND check it out!

@CheapBeer09 Thats just the background, sure its a bit plain and repetative with muted greys but many bullet hells are like this as it helps theplayer to see all the forground objects easily, which is a good thing imo. Im sure it was solely for that reason the devs NGteam used that graphical scheme, as their previous 2 or 3 STG (all horizontls) have good backgrounds

@SpiralPegasus Read it in a Nintendo Power magazine back in the early 2000's. I thought it was pretty funny since I was one of the few people that bought it. I still remember copping it from Target for $14.99 back in 1999. I got it and Jet Force Gemini on the same day I'll never forget it.

im not really a huge sega fan, but I feel the dreamcast is really a system that died before it ever really got a chance. it has a lot of quality games for a system that was around for such a short time.

I hope more shmups are brought out for the DC - its perfect for shooters and easy/cheap to work on. Sure we wont see DDPDFK standards there, but it has SO much potential still! ^_^ Doujin for PC and limited DC releases FTW!

@TrevHead10 3D existed LONG before the SNES... See I, Robot, released in 1983. And the Mega Drive had Star Cruiser and Hard Drivin' as early as 1990, years before Star Fox if that's what you were referring to.
