sensible soccer on the original xbox is fantastic and great in 2 player, loads of options as well. Recommended if you like the look of this game.

retrostansolo Yeah, I saw there was a 360 version for download on Xboxlive (don't know if you meant that one?). Not sure if its still available but I played a demo of it and it was great, a lovely update!

The version I'm on about is for the original xbox, I think it works on on the 360 I'll get back to you on that. Your right about Superside kicks soccer neo geo, me and my daughter play it and it great fun. I play it on my modded original xbox emulated, its to expensive to buy and collect for neo geo.

From 1992 to 1997, this was the only football/soccer game that my friend and I would play. Despite his yearly 'FiFA' purchase and my 'International Superstar Soccer Deluxe' buy (as well as regretful purchases of 'Dino Dini's Soccer' and 'Pele' upon their releases) we would always opt to play Sensible Soccer because, above all else, it was the most fun.

This game was great, we had it on our 386 back in the day - fast paced and super fun! Don't get it why people are complaining about the graphics, at least it had colors. We played a shitload of games in those ugly almost all purple 'ish CGA colors. The joys of being a PC gamer back in the day, I don't even recall having a soundblaster card when playing this, it was all just bleeps, bleeps and the occasional bleep. :-) Some recent indy gems have similar graphics... Gameplay will always be the first and foremost important aspect of a videogame, it makes or breaks the whole experience imo! You should play Sensible World Of Soccer on Amiga....the Genesis one is ok;but the Amiga SWOS is one of the best games ever made :) Been playing it daily for like 25 years, and I still improve ad see new stuff :)

Miguel F The term "soccer" originates from the UK, it comes from Association Football. Although the term Football is more widely used. For some reason Japanese companies use the term "soccer", for example Pro Evolution Soccer which only sells in regions that call it football. So go figure.

Yeah, its not bad, but it lacks the pass aftertouch and the joystick control, which can be adressed if you own a decent joystick for the MD, although i am not aware of a truly decent microswitched one like the ones you can find for home computers. Moreover, it has poorer sound, far less teams than in SWOS and freaking music in game

You should also try Football Glory on the Amiga. You get streakers on the pitch and can run away from the ref if he tries to give you a yellow card. Its not as good as Sensi but its frikin hilarious

Isn't it weird, the EU Mega Drive can play US or Japanese games (with the aid of a nail file) but the Genesis will not play Mega Drive games. I don't believe the Amiga version had music in the game. I can't be bothered to check right now but I think it would detract from the seriousness and concentration required when playing this game.

Like many unlicenced sports games, of course, this game has some close approximations to real people's names, but you still have to laugh at them having Gery Mcellister for Gary McAllister and Elly McCuist for Ally McCoist etc at least in the early Fifa games they use real made up names :) .
