A confession of a former knife nut: this Vic classic is my only go-to carry knife now. All those Randall's and high end folders from Spyderco and Benchmade are sold off or given away. I reached a point in life where I looked at all the crap I had accumulated and did a super huge downsize. Now I just have a few Swiss Army knives and one Buck fixed blade. The classic has been my EDC pocket knife since about 1997. In an urban/suburban environment, it's all I need. I'm not a Navy SEAL or secret squirrel operator, and I just need to open my mail and plastic packages. I've used the tweezers to get a sticker out from between my dogs paw pads. If I go camping or fishing, my Buck 102 woodsman is on me, but otherwise my little classic does all I need in town. If I need protection, that's what the small revolver in my pocket is for. If I'm someplace that a gun is a no-no, then a small can of pepper spray in clipped on the belt. A knife is a very poor defense weapon. I'm 73 years old now, and I think back to all the old guys when I was a kid, all carrying some little pen knife. I didn't understand then, but as I got older I did understand. Baring warfare or Hollywood movies, you just don't need much knife in real world life. Advertising and image are powerful things and I fell for it in my youth, but now older and somewhat wiser, I've downsized. The little classic is great!

I like your philosophy, and the video was not longer than necessary. I like the Rambler. It’s only a half layer thicker and gives you cap lifter,#1 phillips, but mostly the keyring is opposite the most important tools.

I also carry the Rambler. If you have minimal amount of keys you can even have something like the Olight i1R2 Pro or any small 180+ lumen flashlight for the best key ring/key chain setup. I also pocket carry the Victorinox Explorer with Plus Scales and all possible addons :)

been carrying the same one for years, but mine is green. I agree with you about the scissors -- I used to carry a similar version with a dedicated phillips head driver but found myself wanting the scissors so often that I switched.

Yeah scissors tend to get short shrift in the Edc community but they’re so versatile

Classic! When I served in the New Zealand Army we got issued a small silver Victornox (farmer I think it was called). Great for rifle sight adjustments and we also used them to take the gas adjuster off the LS9 C9 (SAW) 5.56 light machine gun. To this day I still own two of the small Victornox and recently lost a larger Victornox. I typically put them on a landyard in my pocket. I wont go to the range or into the bush without one. I just now remember I carry a larger red one in my belt kit as a back up. I just bought my step son a nice one for Christmas. Cheers Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

Interesting! Do you have the lanyard attached to a belt loop then? Kind of curious about how that setup works. Love your stories too!

@@LWRoad I get a large size fishing clip swivel and then about a metre of paracord. Swivel on the end of paracord and knife on other end. I loop clip the end with the clip swivel to a belt loop then the knife goes in my pocket. For heavy use I will take it out and unclip it. The set up is purely to reduce the risk of losing the knife. Thanks!

Have hundreds of knives and 10 different leatherman's. EDC for the last 8 years is the Skeletool CX. Carries like a knife and having a screwdriver and plyers have become very convenient. The blade is great too! If I'm going to the lake or gonna be outdoors for the day it's the Leatherman Signal. Good blade, great plyers, sharpens hooks and makes a fire easily. Excellent if I get stranded or have an accident in the boat or seadoo and have to make for the shore.

I got my wife one of these SD victorinox as she was a little nervous about carrying a knife. She loves it and has it on her car keys. I carry a Gerber Vise on my keys and have a victorinox hiker in my bag. I also carry a Bibury multitool which is very handy and half the price of the equivalent Leatherman. Great video

Same, it's the most useful knife I've ever owned. Although this last range weekend we were using it to zero an optic and I was thinking I should have had a different color because once it hit the snow it would be gone.

I see these comments a lot on here and don’t discount it. Maybe it’s because I live in the south, but about the only way you’re going to draw attention or comments here is if you whip out a big Ka-Bar or Buck knife or something like that. I have heard more guys catch a hard time from either having a dull knife or not having a knife in their pocket around here. I get on to our apprentices all the time for not having a knife in their pocket.

Tooth picks great to clean your phones charging port and or speakers. I've been carrying mine on my wallet chain as a backup to my wave and it's saved my but a few times ill even go out to dinner or movie or whatever without my wave and just keep this. It's been a great daily driver only thing I rarely use is the file.

Cool thing I've seen recently, was a small fire steel: in place of the toothpick; I think it's a great idea. Probably been out for awhile, but I'll be on the hunt for them; I'd rather have that than the toothpick: lol!

I normally carry a Super Tinker with a suspension clip. But my Classic SD is always on my keyring and gets used often to open blister packaging etc... Scissors are indispensable when you find your fingernails need trimming. You forget that you have that tiny blade on you at all times. I sharpen on my Spyderco Sharpmaker ceramic rods.
