It BREAKS my heart hearing TD now say he should have handled the situation better and that he could have become more of Preston Pearson type back as he got older but his ego was hurt. He NEVER should have been Bronco, never. I can't even look at photos of him inthat uniform. I have his book in hardback and paperback. Paper is a Cowoys uniform and took the Dusk jacket of the hardback and cut the cover off...taped the back photo inside the back of the book and made my own Cowboys Tony cover. If he became our new Preston Pearson...OMG...we would have won more games but later this year Danny broke his wrist and THAT was the nail in the Landry era coffin. People forget, we were 6-2 going to NYG stadum...they hurt Danny and the NYG STILL...STILL needed 3 (2 bad calls) to stop the Cowboys driving in the last minute of the game. The ballad of Mike Sharrard as well...When Landry was coaching, aside from the 1984 games WE OWNED THE GIANTS. One of my favorite wins was the second game of the season in 1987 and we played the home opener for the SB CHampion NYG and Danny White made his return to the scene of the crime and beat them.

I remember( I was 16) that week 2 game in '87 at the Meadowlands. Remember Thinking we should've kicked the FG to go up 19-14 instead of the failed 4th and short inside Giants 5 yard line leaving NY needing only a FG to win. Allegre missed a kick ( 47 yards)that he probably makes the year before when everything seemed to go the Giants way following Danny's wrist injury but we escaped 16-14. Then beat the Giants again later that '87 season( repeat of '85 when Too Tall tipping a Simm's pass in the air to Jeffcoat for a INT TD) when Simms got knocked around late. So after coming within a whisker of sweeping the Giants 3 straight years didn't beat them again after '87 until 1991.

@ricktheitalianrebel66874 ай бұрын
They had PLENTY of offensive speed and talent. Rookie Mike Sherrard was VERY fast and talented. The problem was that they on the D and O Lines. The D line was still formidable against the pass but not against the run. Your right about the speed and depth on the D line. But the Offense was deep in talent at the skill positions. The problem was the O line...which was the WORST in Cowboys History giving up 60 sacks. EVEN so. If White stays healthy this team win 10 games again..not 7. Probably not enough to get them in the playoffs but it's another respectable winning season. Keep in mind at Mid Season this was the HIGHEST scoring offense in the league...Ranked number one. White was having his BEST season with this new offense. Then, when he got hurt. Pueller came in an everything went south. Landry did not realize how bad the O line Had gotten at the start of the season. Nor did he and every cowboys fan realize how BAD Pueller really was. The dude was just TERRIBLE

FACT: The Cowoys were looking to draft the WR Lionel Manuel in 1984. OJ Anderson and Morris were SOMUCH BETTER than Barber and Jacobs.
