Nice I bought a Case L that has the same color on it I wonder if they tried that color with more than the CC. I have also heard that dealerships would get them as a trade in and re paint them with the new red to make them look more like the new ones when they were on the lot. Either way I am going to redo it in red lol.

That's exactly what dealers did. It was a sales incentive. They repainted old stock on the lot, as well as trade-ins to make them look like the new colour models. They did it again in 55 when the new hundred series came out in the Flambeau Red and Desert Sunset. Letter series got the same two-tone paint job. The theory behind the update was to show the older models were just as good as the newer ones. Everyone that has a model with the updated paint schemes makes a choice when they want to restore. There is no wrong answer. Lol

Case definitely looks better in orange than in grey. Similarly IH went from grey to red in 1936 with equal improvement. Ford 9N's & 2n's were grey from 1939 to 1947 after which the 8N became red & grey. One local farmer painted his early 50's Ferguson red & grey which made it a very good looking Ford. If I was repainting any of these older tractors I'd definitely paint them in the more attractive later colors.

PS And if John Deere doesn't get their act together on their ECM diagnostics & repair there are going to be John Deere tractors out there sporting lemon yellow paint jobs.

My Dad had a later model Case with the same steering configuration. Absolutely true description they were fence post knockers which also resulted in some whacked thumbs.

That was often called "Chicken Roost" steering.

Did this tractor have a hand clutch and mechanical lift for the tool bar? Seams like ours had the steering bar on the right side, I could be mistaken on the year model.

Yes, the CC had a hand clutch as did the larger models. The smaller VA had a foot clutch though.

The color is called case flambeau red oh, it looks orange in the sunlight but looks red when it's dark out. Technically that tractor is supposed to be colored Gray for that age and they generally did not paint that tractor Flambeau red until the last year that they made them

Yes it is Flambeau Red... NOT ORANGE as the commentator says... there isn't any Orange Cases that I know of.

The color is called Flambeau red and they did not paint that particular tractor that particular color until approximately the last year that was made.

Its Called Flambaeu Red. It actually looks orange if you see this color in person. I have grown up around a lot of J I Case tractors so I know what I am talking about.
