Where did you get the colorful letters stickers for author’s last name?
@louda044 жыл бұрын
I still need to finish putting my stickers on my fiction books at school. I didn’t want to pack them up and bring them home. So, I think I’ll work on my informational set this summer! I use to teach science for four years, so I have a lot of books that I left in my “storage” (aka parents garage lol) that I can sort through and get done! I would love to see how you built up your library! 😊📚
@MollyMaloy4 жыл бұрын
louda04 haha ya I totally get that!!! I’m going to add labels to my graphic novels this summer and I’m debating either bringing them home or trying to do them real quick at school!! And that’s amazing that you have lots of books in storage to bring out!!! I’ll definitely work on a video of how I built up my library!

@MollyMaloy4 жыл бұрын
Dawn Dondero Hi Dawn! They look the same as the other labels on most books! The only difference is that if the book has a thicker spine there will be some white on either side if you print the labels with the strip of color just down the center!

I love your library organization system. Not only it is beautiful (love ROYGBIV), it is totally functional!!! I use it, and it has transformed the way that my students think about books and authors. Before, I had always gone with the suggested "BOOK LEVEL BIN" system of organization. Yuck. Talk about lack of reading motivation... especially for upper grades. I use the print saving option, and I put the genre on the front in the white space and the reading level on the white space on the back, for easy student reference. I currently put Graphic Novels in their own section but also use your labels for them.

Did you buy your labels in different colors or did you print them that way?
@MollyMaloy3 жыл бұрын
I printed them that way! I have ink-saving options too that don't take up as much ink! You can check them all out here: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Molly-Maloy/Category/Classroom-Library-Book-Spine-Labels-389946

I bought your labels and then I moved to grade 1. Any suggestions for a grade 1 library? Would you still do spine out?
@sadieboyd50104 жыл бұрын
I currently have my books arranged by genre/topic. I was thinking I still could do that but with your labels! I love the idea of alphabetical by authors name but I am worried my students will have a hard time finding books that they are interested in. Have you had this problem?
@MollyMaloy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sadie!! You could definitely try it out and see how your students like it! The first few years that I arranged books like this I had half my library arranged in alphabetical order and then the other half arranged by topic or popular genres! I found that my students preferred having all the books spine out instead of being in baskets, so that's why I eventually switched over the rest of my classroom library! You can also think about how your students look for books in your school library (if you have one)! If students can find books that they like there, then they should be able to find books in your library the same way! I hope that helps!

Hi Molly! I just bought your labels and I have started organizing my library. Question, where do you have all of your fiction picture books? Thanks! :)
@MollyMaloy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sydney!!! Yay!!! I hope you love them as much as I do! I keep my fiction picture books on shelves behind my whiteboard and bring them out for read alouds or when they go along with other units of study! So they aren’t with my other classroom library books! If I did keep them in my library though I would have the picture books all together in a picture book section!
