Hello grade one, finally I have seen how you laminate that long number line. Your classroom looks great and thanks for reaching out. I am gradually learning how you do the classroom setup online. Online learning is new for me. I am used to in person hands on learning. Thank you for sharing. Regards.

Thank you for sharing the idea of creating your own custom length pouches for the laminator. I will definitely try some of those tips for some of my longer items. A couple of suggestions, though, if you decide to print the larger print number line. If you try to do the same laminating trick, only put two long strips per pouch. This way you would have less waste as it looked like you were laminating four strips total. Another tip would be to set up your laminator on a chair or stool just below your table top so you can rest the glued pouch on the table and let gravity feed it into the machine. Then all you would have to do is guide it as needed. Good luck this year!

I can't even feed one pouch in straight enough to keep from crunching up the edges! I think you did an amazing job on the number line :)

I tried that laminating hack, but not as long. My attempt did the same. Still usable but of course it bothers me. Lol. Teddy is so cute!! So great to see you back!!

You can use packing tape to connect the number line once they are laminated. You can tape on both sides and make it really sturdy. I do this for my preschool class and it has worked even while doing distance learning last year. Plus you can still see through the tape and not take a chance on the glue melting and ruining your laminator.

For library organization I added a return bin. So when my first graders were done with their books they put them in the bin. Then I myself put the books back. This kept my library organized all year. Just an idea.

I have (and LOVE) Polka Dots Please’s library labels! I hated having my library sorted by level, because I want my kids to read what they want to read, and her labeling system was exactly what I needed!

For the number line, if you do have a whiteboard that is magnetic (or anything magnetic) you could put magnets behind the smaller number line and place it lower, more at eye level for the littles :)

Its so refreshing to see everyone with a little more pep in their step since last year was so trying. Hoping you don't have to livestream teach. Thats what I had to do all year last year and its the most exhausting and frustrating thing to do. Praying for a safe and as close to normal as can be for you and your learners

I use class dojo and the kids love it. When you give out points it makes noise so even if they can’t see the screen they know someone got a point. Then, there would be levels of reward on Friday at the end of the day according to how many points they earned.
@puttingthemfirst3 жыл бұрын
YES - we used it last year but the noise became a little too Pavlovian so I muted the sounds. 🤷🏼♀️
@kgaipo723 жыл бұрын
@@puttingthemfirst I agree the noise is can get on ones nerves. It became difficult to always share my screen with google meet to show someone getting a point. I was the distance learning teacher for my grade level last year in my building so even though the noise was blah I used it so they would know. I’m so,happy to be going back in person this year. I missed having little people in front of me. I’m so glad I came across someone else in Massachusetts on here. I’m about an hour south of Boston and teach 2nd grade.

I think the numberline is too small! It should be easily readable for the kids so they can actually use it. At 29:22 when you are putting it up I couldn't even tell it was a numberline :( I love your classroom decor and style - It inspires me for my kindergarten classroom!
@puttingthemfirst3 жыл бұрын
You’re definitely right - just needed to hear it from another person to accept that I’ll have to go through the laminating adventure again LOL but it’s there to be used as a tool not just take up space! Thank you. 💖

My niece did the same thing this summer. She bought a golden retriever puppy in June. Oh my gosh was that puppy cute. She wanted to make sure she got him adjusted before she went back to school. She teaches special ed 1st - 4th grades. Not sure if they call it special ed anymore and I can't remember what my niece told me. Been a lot of years since I've been in school so if that's the wrong terminology I apologize. Anyway Teddy is adorable.🐾😊

Okay, I am in love. Teddy is such a cutie! All that floof! He looks like a living Gund stuffed toy! When you talked of your sparking light, it made me remember the time you had the flying insect visitor during classroom setup. Wasn't that first year? It has become a tradition. Something unnerving will happen during Lauren's classroom setup. Lol! Could you cut the number line to fit across the white closet doors where they would still open? If so, you would not need to redo it.

Just a thought, if your school wants you to use Dojo, can't you still use your compliment system and Dojo side by side? Have the compliments match the Dojo points but they will be the physical and visual thing the kids can see! ALSO lol omg. I so just moved my dead light to voice level 3 the other day 😂😂😂
