The American accent wouldn’t however, because it’s the majority accent, everyone is surrounded by people that speak it, so it would be pretty hard to forget or misinterpreted what it sounds like.

@Pfft As If I would say 25/75 in favour of a cure. I can't think of many experiments you can conduct when you just kill them with an expensive and time-consuming machine. On the other hand I can think of several things you could do when you have such a machine at your disposal (I don't know the lore of this vault so it's just a guess). You could test if the painful torture to get clean prohibits relapses more than using Addictol (and alike). You could built a vault society full of addicts, where only half of the population is allowed to get clean. And you can do this by either "letting people elect who gets clean" or with pre-decided group. What will happen? "Civil war"? I don't know. Vault-Tec surely wants to know :D

I love Cait. She's a strong woman that doesn't give up searching for solace. And depending on VD's choice, she finds something even better than solace, which is true friendship or/and a romantic relationship. She's a good example of "search and you shall find". She defines what it is to be human. Actually all of the companions do, but all in their own way. Except for Dogmeat though. He defines how it is to be dog. :p But considering how heartbreaking and horrible her history is, it's really inspiring to see how persistent she still is. A lot of real people in our world who are like that.

Craziest thing that happened when I was with Cait, was when she explained to me her chem addiction and that we needed to go to Vault 95. She explained this as we were leaving that very same vault. I know it was one hell of a coincidence for that to happen, and it didn’t make sense because her dialogue was making it seem like we haven’t found the vault yet. But I like to think of it like this: She had this secret that was eating away at her and was still debating on telling me. She saw everything in the vault and knew it was true this could in fact help her. She was so shocked by it all and might have thought it was a sign from somewhere telling her to say something. And as we were leaving she did the hardest thing she’s ever had to do in order to save her life which was to tell me her weakness. When I thought of it like that I instantly got goosebumps. Can’t remember the last time I ever got goosebumps from a video game.

Just because there's a lot of content doesn't mean it's well written. Outside of the BoS or Institute. Railroad and Minutemen are structured very poorly. Also most of the companions have weak stories. Curie, MacCready, Hancock even Piper. They only did a lot for certain characters like Danse, Nick, Deacon etc. But even arguably their best companion story, Paladin Danse is unfinished. Despite being the best written arc in the game, they still left it incomplete. Fallout 4 is heavily flawed. It could without a doubt use some polishing and revision. Because lots of things within the story contradict each other including the companions and their morals which flip flop constantly. I can also see why certain people consider the story to be bad. Overall it's just a retelling of Fallout 3's plot but instead of searching for the dad you're searching for your son. The main story is over quickly and this installment depends too much on the factions for storytelling. So much that if you don't join any of them you're missing out completely.

I don't understand why her parents waited until the age of 18 to sell her into slavery. Fallout 3 taught us that the younger they are, the bigger the amount of caps you can get for them. Perhaps Bethesda is intentionally writing around uncomfortable topics. (or) Cait is lying, and maybe she isn't even aware of it. Her parent's would have no reason to wait until she was 18 years old. Her retelling the story of her slavery at an older age gives her a sense of control over what happened. I think she is trying to protect a fragile aspect of her consciousness through compartmentalization. The horrors of child sex trafficking and it's aftermath are incomprehensible.

Jordan Futch I think it was either the first, or they just didn't really think about it. Fucks sake, they managed to mess up the lore of X-01 (created by Enclave, yet found in extremely old military bases and has the quantum attachment in nuka world) in game, and also messed up the lore of the T-51 (best power armour before the war, yet T-60 and X-01 are pre war) so it's likely they just didn't see the contradiction of it. Bethesda really like contradictions. Also, didn't the slaver from paradise falls in FO3 openly state that one of the kids captured would make a good breeder, openly stating the sexual purpose of their enslavement?

That point, about you being Cait's world, and thus her faction, is the most relatable and precious thing I have ever experienced in a game character. It makes sense that she hates when you help people, because she only wants you to look out for you (and her), believing you are the only person deserving of anything. Heir-go she loves it when you help yourself, because just like when we choose a faction and revel in any advantages or victories they have over opponents, she loves to see you (her faction) doing well. Cait is the most flawed personality in Fallout 4 as far as i'm concerned, but also the most real one as well. Love her to bits, and I knew I picked the best one first time around! (yes the accent is off, but it's still alluring)

Cait has never been one of my favorite companions but when I first started playing she was actually my first companion. Now there are two dialogues in the game that I will always remember and chuckle over when I do. One is the two raiders talking about the guy who threw "grenades" then rode off on his imaginary motorcycle. The other was right after I got Cait and I was checking out an old shack and saw something through the slats in back of it. It was a glowing green and kind of moved and I was wandering just what the hell I was looking at when suddenly Cait from behind me yelled "SHITE ITS A DEATHCLAW" I was studying the glow so intently and she yelled so loud that needless to say, my wife had to peel me off the ceiling.

I'll be honest, Ox, you've turned me around on Cait. For the longest time, I've thought of Cait as an irredeemable drug addict and a liability, even despite her skills. But, truth is, she's only like that until you, the player, comes along. Even knowing her backstory and the end of her personal quests, I didn't want her around because I saw her as who she was when you meet her. But you put her in the perspective of who she is as you learn about her. You told her story as it correlates to the player character, and what you can do for her. That's a truly special way to tell the story that I hadn't heard before, and hadn't experienced because I didn't want her around. I'm even playing Fallout 4 right now, listening while I decorate Vault 88. I think I'll drop it for a while and head back to the Combat Zone. Time to help her out.

If that were true, there wouldn't be an appalling amount of stories on the news of parents who beat their children near to death, parents who starve their children or make them live in squalid conditions, parents who sexually abuse their children, and even parents who kill their children deliberately. There wouldn't be therapists and psychologists making bank trying to treat the children of parents like this who manage to struggle their way to adulthood. And those are the lucky ones who can afford any kind of treatment. The ones that can't often end up like Cait, addicted to drugs in an attempt to "treat" themselves in a way that's only going to hurt them more. Some of these parents continue to torment their children even into adulthood. And that's just here in the United States. It reaches Fall Out 4 levels of atrocity when you start getting into what goes on in third world countries. So, sadly, Cait's story is not what I'd call common in our world, but it's not a total fantasy either.

The problem with setting a Fallout game outside of America, is the entire aesthetics of the game come from 1950s Americana's take on the future and science. It simply put, doesn't work in other countries. And if they were to adopt the style of the other countries, then well it simply wouldn't be Fallout anymore. That, and it's implied other countries were hit much worse than America anyways. I believe it's stated that China simply no longer exists for example. The entire country was literally wiped off the face of the planet.

I usually have my T-51 set (I try and get a full set of each for a PA workshop/gallery) with ye olde winterized paintjob, makes me feel more powerful than I actually am in that armor...Thank you Anchorage for that broken (ironically unbreakable), godlike armor that was Winterized T-51. Also, Cait seems quite knowledgeable for someone who was kept on a short leash (possibly literally at times) for nearly all of her life. She knows a decent amount about the vaults for someone of her upbringing, she knows about giddyup buttercups (which I'm guessing she would probably never have had access to as a kid) and knows how to read (to an extent) which is probably more than can be said for most kids with slave upbringings.

+thstephen - Get the dogmeat companion mod that means you can always have him plus one other companion at all times. There is coding in the game that suggests dogmeat wasn't meant to be a "true" companion as his affinity for you is maxed out from the start so you can have him travel with you constantly. Its a bit like how Fallout New Vegas let you have one humanoid and one non humanoid with you.

Gerald I lived in the boston area most my life, only recently moved out. I heard irish accents like hers often :) like i said the singer for DKM is boston irish, runs a pub in boston.

The whole chem addiction and vault 95 thing really hit home with me in a deep personal way. I've been with someone who had a serious drug addiction and seeing them overcome that would make me so happy. But in real life there is no magical vault 95 that cures addiction and it's a long, hard, horrible process. I almost cried watching Cait be cured.

Kay-K Schwarz yeah the accent differs depending on where you go , if you are from Dublin you will have a very strong accent but if you are from Kildare (I am ) you can understand every single word but you will get confused with the phrases we useXD

Honestly one if the most emotional moments in the game is her vault 95 mission. Forget big explosions. Forget the other romances. Her loyalty conversations and that vault are deeper than anything in the game.

two things. first, switch from cait to dogmeat, she will say "if he gets ye killed, im turning him into a fur coat" and second, i legit cried during this video. is really deep, and to think, people really do exist with this problem. in the real world. my girlfriend is just now getting over drug addict and PTSD enducing parents and past family members, So I fully understand. I sometimes wake up to a quick call for help or her hugging me tighter than ever and even her waking me up just to whisper how much I mean to her. She was in a dark place. I know this video is years old, But I sincerely hope that whoever needs to see this (and maybe the creator, that'd be cool :p) does. Her real name is Spinel. Love your videos! (I subbed)
