In today's episode, we're visiting Claudia Sanders Dinner House. Claudia Sanders was the wife of Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, or KFC. The Sanders' purchased the home in 1959 and Blackwood Hall (adjascent to the dinner house) served as the location for the corporate headquarters for Kentucky Fried Chicken for many years. This was my kind of buffet. All comfort foods. I'm impressed they had lima beans and stewed tomatoes as they are two of my favorites. The only thing I saw missing was stuffing/dressing.

I would love to try those beets and the tomato pudding...or at least that is what we called it. They both look exactly like my sweet granny use to make for us. Have not had anything like them in years. That corn pudding looks really good. The cabbage, pot pie, and the rolls? YUM! Shucks...it all looks awesome! If I ever make it up that way, I will definitely go check this out. We are planning a trip to The Arc Experience sometime in the spring. Will see how far the drive between the two places would be. I agree with Brett...it would be worth the drive! Hope ya'll have a great week ahead and God bless!

Wait… a sanders documentary noted that due to the sale to the big conglomerate that ended the sanders original recipe and original 11 herbs and spices that Claudia’s dinner house was the ONLY place left that kept the original recipe on both gravy and chicken.. but in intro you stated it’s Claudia’s different recipe ?!?!? I’m confused .. somebody’s wrong lol

We have read articles which state that the recipe was Claudia's own; however, we've also read that Colonel Sanders created The Colonel's Lady restaurant (now Claudia Sander's Dinner House) to bring back his original 11 herbs and spices recipe and not breach his "non-compete" claus that he signed when he sold off KFC. There's several variations of the story that exists out there, so it's difficult to tell which one is accurate.

kfc had it all until corp cut corners. no wonder colonel left and opened a separate restaurant with his wife

The reason this restaurant was made is very sad. When the colonel sold his company, the people he sold it to started cutting corners and lowering the quality of the the chicken, to the colonel’s dismay. He had to make this restaurant to keep his original recipe alive.
