MAN, what an intro!! I own this instrument, but this demo makes me feel like I'm hearing its potential for the first time. Amazing presentation.

A neat plus: this synth has FM, and it complements analog synths like the Prophet 08 really well. You get a full wash of warm or brassy analog with the FM digital synthesis cutting through with lots of unusual harmonics. Works really well in combination.

i have this synth it has the best interface very well layed out superfast to program no menu diving at all. not as manny features as virus c but its much faster to work with

Seems like they did the ”Super knob” long before Yamaha Montage. Nowadays, Nord seems to have chosen a different path, from being the pioneers of Virtual Analog synthesis, into making sampleplayers and organs, when most others jumped aboard the analog vintage train. Maybe a business-wise more profitable descision, but not as creative and fun.

To me Nord is somewhere between analog and digital,in sound of course.It is not warm as second mentioned ,but again has that meaty low end,and got that digital bite,which is quite nice unique hybrid combination.

A synth with an easy to use interface because of the encoders, but cheap is beautiful in consumerismland therefore Clavia uses cheaper ones now with no LEDs. All producers are cutting corners these days and remove essential features like aftertouch and good keybed quality. :(

one synth i liked that was just ace to program and had the best ever spanish guitar id herd on a synth was the jd800 tha was just so good to make sounds with its a shame its so big

i bought one of these thinking it was gonna be better than my lead rack 2 ...not so i then px it for a x2 witch was no better and wish id have not got rid of my lead 2

I'm surprised you didn't enjoy the Lead 3 with the addition of the FM engine on it, it makes it much more flexible than the Lead 1, 2, and 2x.

Is this the best VA, and the best Nord? Compared to other VAs, it breathes. Not truly analog, nor digital, it has its own character, and personally that's what I like in a synth. And no built-in effects!

the lead 3 i would have kept but again lack of sounds i liked in it even with the editor the sounds were jus not what i liked so i swapped it for a 2x i think the only thing i liked about the lead 3 was all the lights on it n that reminds me of my radius the poor mans virus and it is aswell its just awful sounds nothing like a virus if ida known the radius sounded like that ida bought another virus

I just got a radias and love it, its like massive but can stack 4 groups of patches(timbres). I bought for pads and stuff, I really like the sound. but I am using it on reese basses and it is sounding pretty amzing with the waveshapper/drive on it

well i dont like my 2x as it hasent any good sounds in it it sounds nuffin like the rack 2 that i had and the rack 2 was loads easyer to program something in it i liked unlike the 2x and the 3 my nord lacks strings i duno what thay did with the strings but theres non in there that i like the strings that i like i use out of my korg tr or my virus c ive herd the nord do good strings before but where thay are i have no i dear another thing my 2x dont have is base noises for some reason noe dose it have any decent lad sounds like ive erd in other peoples demos i cud make them in my nord rack 2 when i had it but the 2x is i duno just full of organ and awful sounds like that i use 2 sounds in my 2x ones a filter sweep and the other a string sound thats the same as the sound on halcion by orbital other than that the rest of the sounds am not what i like ive already factory reset the machine so its from scratch i have the same problem with a novation supernova i have ive had it over a year now and i was so dissapointed in the sounds in it and also the options for editing the sounds but i did manage to get my hands on the blue magic soundset that im yet to load in the machine as it wont receve the midi os update or the new soundset for some reason novation suport said aparently its my pc thats the fault but like i said i tried it on 3 pcs a laptop with usb midi lead or paralell conection lead and it till dont receve any data the machine works fine with midi in cubase but it jus wont load os or soundsets ive tried midi ox to load the midi file and i converted it so it was sysex and i tried cubase but nearher of em worked i have the load midi file problem with mi viruses as thay i can only get to load sysex banks not midi files its another mystery of the computer i guess my pc is a quad core 2.33 4gig runnin win 7 if anyone out there dose have any ideas on how to load the banks into the lead 2x or the supernova id be happy to know as then i mite not sell the nova

well i had a lead 2 before the 2x and i got loads good sounds out of it but like the lead 3 and the 2x i cant get the same sounds or better out of em i just bought a korg triton so i can replace it with my radias as its just awful the sounds in the triton am far better than the radias and you can put sound chips in the triton unlike the radias that has no way of loading any sounds in that are any good

+yoll d might sound strange, but you don't need to put any "sound chips" in a nord... that's what the knobs are for.... you turn them to create the sounds you want :P

if you couldn't tell by the intro, the nord lead 3 sucks. only capable of generic, dull synth sounds.
