@Geeljasjes its not only a software editor its a synth which is actually bloody nice sounding, even if its not an exact emulation of the nord its defiantly as competent.
@Meteotrance13 жыл бұрын
one thing that impressed me in Clavia keyboard it's sound realy warm for a digital synth with modeling, maybe they used some analog filter inside, i think i looking for that and a real analog like moog litle phatty and Dave Smith Prophet 08.

This is SO amazingly WOW. This synth is AMAZING!!! Listen to those SOUNDZ!

@clusterchord1 He spent 9 mins on the Nord and 1 minute on the Vsti and did not showcase the sound quality properly. The plugin sounds miles better than demonstrated, its incredibly close to the real thing and no way does it sound plastic. Its one of the best plugins I have heard and it sits in a mix incredibly well and has a punchy , huge and flexible sound that others lack. Almost moog like.

in Virtual Analog , amazing synths like the TI simulate the behavior of circuits in a dsp realm. Simulations are not exact, and they are open to subjective analysis, sometimes designers want a dark sound(virus TI), sometimes they want a bright phat sound (Nord). Its not only a piece of code, but a set of modules both hardware and software that give us the specific sound.
@clusterchord114 жыл бұрын
i like the Nord 3 best. digital subtractive synth at its best (together with waldorf q). i wish he tired to make similar pathces on wave, like he used form Nord3 for a more direct comparison. Discovery sounds plastic and small. typical ITB sound.
@aviolentpurple99257 жыл бұрын
Why is this comparison so short? Also it would be better to do a comparison of the Nord Lead 2/2X with DiscoDSP instead of the NL3/Wave; the NL3 series was designed totally differently from the 2/2X, which sound much warmer and different. NL3 sounds cold. That said, NL3 and NMG2 have the best interface by far with the LED rings around the knobs... This was absolutely genius and should have been carried over into the NL4.

agreed but i also look in terms of being usable in a production. most software either tries to copy older sounds or some spectacular display of sonics that everyone will use, i call it uninspiring. new moogs or analogs are very usable and stable, sound great but if you look for true vintage sound it will lack something. nowadays technology has great analog/modular to offer still

@SynaesthesiaOfficial12 жыл бұрын
converter? what do you mean? DAC? dude im telling you that between my xstation and vstation, if i feed them the same patch file, they sound completely different. In the case of an analog synth, the difference is wider, because even if you copy the same architecture, or if you use transistors instead of diodes, if you use dsp chips instead of circuits, the result is always different. Even different brand in resistors can impact the sound.
@Senj1n12 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean and I do agree with you to a certain point but code =/= code. The difference is not in the 1's and 0's. Its the dedicated code, dsp's, chips, filters and converters that makes the difference. Or do you think that a 19$ creative soundblaster sounds the same as an apogee? So my guessing is that either you haven't trained your ears enough or your room accoustics/monitors lacks in terms of detail if you can't hear a difference between a hardware and it's software emulation.

there an interesting free vst named Synth 1 made by a japanese programer, and it's sound not so bad for a norlead 2X emulation, but the real nordlead have something special that sound more warm, Clavia knows how to design a stage keyboard very well, 1 button for 1 parameter not a gaswork like on Yamaha or korg product, Roland made a good user interface too, like Clavia.

even differences between DSP/OTB and CPU/ITB generated sounds are subtle, yes they sound different. usually people prefer sound of outboard ones, i suggest you to do a test. put real analog dsp clone and vst clone run by 96khz trough some VCA or preamp and listen eyes closed, the differences between these virtual ones are subtle but enormous between analog and virtual ones. theres really not point argue do virtual sound different than virtual of virtual, they both suck big time.

and then pull out a jupiter 8, alesis andromeda, prophet 5 or obxa and realize there is much you can do with software but there is absolutely nothing better than a real analog synth. even a jx8p has thicker bass that rumbles more real and genuine than some soft synth. nevertheless the nord wave is quite usable

even a jx8p has thicker bass and especially so called 'warmth' than nowadays analogs like DSI's or new Moogs, that's weird and had hard times to accept it, can't explain it otherwise than saying "They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To" :)

Ive had a NL3 for 1 year but didnt liked it. Its a synth where the leads are pretty bad. The pads may look cool at 1st time when you use the FM but they are not deep and sound a bit in your face, its a synth that tryes to be good on everything and fails. I have a wave and NR2 as well, those are keepers.

For sure. Rea VA is more professional, has more advanced algorithms, and is overall much more *musical*. VA are actual fine musical instruments; VST is just emulations and more clinical. Hard to make a VA sound bad... Not true of VST

Lol,check my video and i've own virus and nord before. The difference is only due to coding from each company. If nord make a port of their synth to vst it will sounded the same with its hardware. It's only code, 1 and 0. I don't use pirated stuff, i own a lot of vst too. Uneducated? Well if you call my ear is uneducated after owning several hardware VA this last few year then that's totally up to you.

@theHackerOfMayhem You are talking rubbish. A modern hardware synth is software in a box. Omnisphere, FM8, Reaktor and so many others can do ALL of these sounds without problems. Put them through a few software EQ's or Enhancers and you have a sound that excels all modern digital synths.

Yamaha is fine for a beginner, child or someone who just wants to play around but for the professional Nord is probably best.
