Hats off to Clay and everyone else with the courage to stand up and admit to the world who they truly are. To everyone still struggling and hiding in the closet, I want to give you a hug and tell you that it's going to be ok. The world is getting better slowly. Be proud of yourself and who you are, if someone doesn't like it then that is their problem. Don't let others judge you and scare you into hiding and not being happy. Be true to who you are, love yourself as you are and others will too.

I like how Clay is just so happy and bubbly and Diane Sawyer has this SUPER melancholoy disposition and is SO fishing for hurt feelings or anything like that but Clay just shines haha.. he is like, yea , no , it was no big deal..

He's responding so well to the questions and making the interview light hearted but she doesn't seem to want that... she wants him to feel awkward about himself.. Diane, that's not the Clay we know and love.

She's trying to get higher ratings for her show by trying to make Clay break down. But Clay knows why he's there.... She needs to be trained on how to conduct good interviews... like Katie Couric

5:48 I remember being a kid knowing he was gay and just keeping any times I liked or cared for gay character mostly to myself and the struggle with all the wondering I had and even being mad at angry gay adults through my perception as a kid. I even once thought the ones who didn't want to be Christian weren't trying hard enough because, through my perception, plenty of black people (I had only seen white and East Asian and maybe South East Asian LGBT+ people.) were Christian and people used to tell them they had to be slaves and that was clearly wrong. I now know people who think like this still exist, which is scary. I have been told I was nice and sometimes people from scary Christian backgrounds would tell me things that made no sense because of the way I learned Christianity and, because of their own trauma, bully me and even religiously abuse me in a way. I also had scary things in my life, like adults with untreated mental illness and family members who caused trouble and were unsafe for me to be around (no, not sexually). So what they did added to my sense of a lack of safety and I was a kid. I only knew so much. Oddly enough the safest place I felt to ask about whether or not it was a sin or to hear about gay people and same-sex people at all was my church (it turned out in the United Church of Christ we do have the option for churches to take on an Open and Affirming label, which means same-sex couples can get married in the church and there are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and similar pastors and church leaders, but not every specific church and person has the stance) and we never had sermons or Sunday school lessons against them. Literally never. Actually, once at Youth Group, the confirmation class did a play about why using Christianity to hate a same-sex couple was wrong. One boy said, "Dyke" and an adult gasped, so maybe something was going on in that confirmation class. I only have communication with one kid I knew who was accepting and I think the parents of a gay boy who played God in the play were still going to my church the time we had a gay pastor and are maybe still going now. Even when we learned about what Jesus said about marriage, I remember it being taught to me as freeing to women because it meant that men could not just collect wives and make us deal with being cheated on. We also had divorced people who got divorced and no one cheated but we never went over why some people thought that was sometimes ok.

Then in that case do not post negative things about Clay. He has billions of fans around the world for a reason. He is an extremely nice person and he cares about children and other people in the world. Other than that, he is a terrific musician and entertainer. He has done better than almost all other American Idol contestants.

You want to follow scripture? So I may possess slaves from neighboring nations? - Leviticus 25:44 So I may sell my daughter into slavery? - Exodus 21:7 Should I kill those who work on the Sabbath? - Exodus 35:2 How about men who cut their hair near their temples? - Leviticus 19:27 Read the bible and THINK about it.

@KristaaLovesToSing96 I apologize! I meant it as a mixture of a joke and a reprimand. Obviously i still need to learn to be as accepting of other peoples opinions as I demand of them. I apologize again, I thought it was witty and did not think how it would be received by you.

There was something likeable about him in that first audition. He was this skinny nerd that you wanted to root for, but when he started embracing the star persona he became very unappealing.

I essentially agree with you but sadly, many people are less open-minded -- they DO care. Especially in the South, where he continues to live and raise his son. There live the bigots who threatened Dolly Parton's life, for example, when she sang "Movin' On," from TransAmerica, about a transsexual. Although nominated for an Oscar, she no longer dares sing it in concerts. Aiken had to consider the effect on his family, including a military brother. To his credit, he never denied it.

There is no condemnation of slavery in the Old or New Testament, by Jesus or anyone else. The bible lets you own slaves from other countries: "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you, from them you may buy slaves" (Leviticus (25:44) In other words, we should judge and enslave people based on race. "You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life" (Leviticus 25:45). Furthermore, there is no chance for emancipation.

Gay pride ^_^ People shouldn't be so judgemental. People like that shouldn't be in this world. Having your opinion that's fine, but don't try and control the gay, lesbian and bisexuals. It's not right, tey aren't any diffrent. Love shouldn't be about gender!
